I'm back! With another ridiculously easy candy corn inspired dessert tutorial! Today I made chocolate & pretzel bark. Bark is one of the easiest treats to make, and it is easily customizable. Lots of bark has peanut butter, caramel, fudge, and lots of other stuff added to it. This time I just stuck to the essentials, candy melts, chocolate, and pretzels.
So lets get started!
What you'll need:
-Candy Melts
Pictured I have orange, yellow, and white candy melts. Instead of just the white candy melts I ended up adding white chocolate chunks. Feel free to use white chocolate for everything and just dying portions of it yellow and orange with some food coloring. I did use two bags for each layer, but my bark also came out super thick. I would start off with one bag, you can always add more to make the thickness up to your preference.
-Pretzels
You will only need a small bag, but the store I went to only had the gigantic bags. Oh well, more for me to eat.
-Wax Paper
-Microwave safe bowls
-Cookie sheet
1. Divide the candy melts
This is just prepping for melting. While you're at it, cover the cookie sheet with wax paper.
2. Melt that shit.
You could use a double boiler, or just use the microwave. Either way, you have to be careful. If you over heat them the consistency of the chocolate will get all weird. If you use a double boiler, make sure the water doesn't touch the bottom of the bowl, and stir regularly. If you use the microwave, do it in intervals of 30 seconds at medium high, and stir in between.
I decided to go in order of the color of candy corn, so melted the yellow first.
3. Prepare the pretzels
You can either break them up, or just put them to the side. Either way have them ready because you need to press them into the first layer of the chocolate while it is still soft.
4. Spread the first layer on the cookie sheet
Once the first bowl is melted, just pour it over the wax paper on the cookie sheet. Use a spoon or spatula to smooth it into one even layer.
5. Spread the pretzels over the first layer
As you're doing this, press the pretzels into the chocolate.
6. Melt the orange and yellow candy melts (or chocolate), and spread them over the pretzels. Orange first, than white.
After each layer, make sure you use a spoon to even out each layer.
7. Let cool in fridge for about 20 minutes
&&Voila! Enjoy!
After they're done cooling, you can break them or cut them into pieces. (I made them super thick and didn't break all the pretzels up, so I wasn't able to break them up very easily. Learn from my mistakes)
