Musicals are always a great way to pursue three dreams at once. Acting, singing and dancing are an excellent combination and without musicals none of these amazing theater pieces could happen. These are the top ten Broadway musicals of this year and years past!
1. Hair
The reason Hair is #1 is because I was lucky enough to be in a production of it at school this year. This show was only the second show I’ve ever been a part of at school and in my entire life. This show’s story was very inspiring and the music is extremely catchy. I got incredibly close with my cast and directors. They all inspire me. I love tie-dye and the sixties so much more now.
2. The Wizard Of Oz
Wizard of Oz, like Hair, I was lucky enough to be in a production of it at school this year. This show was the first theater production I had ever done.
3. Kinky Boots
Kinky Boots is a musical by Cyndi Lauper. It has a great storyline and music. The characters are awesome as well. I recommend if you are a person in the LGBTQ+ community you must see this show. If you aren’t in that community you should still go see because it could change your thoughts and feelings on people from the LGBTQ+ community.
4. American Idiot
Calling all Green Day and rock and roll fans!! This is the perfect show for you! It’s based on their smash-hit album American Idiot.
5. The Lion King
Based off the Disney smash, was amazing when I saw it. This is a family friendly show and a show for all the Disney fanatics out there.
6. How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying
I saw this musical when actor Daniel Radcliffe was in it! How To Succeed is a show about the business world in the 1950’s.
7. The Fantasticks
This is a reverse Romeo and Juliet story with the families making up a feud to force the kids to fall in love. When I saw this one Aaron Carter was in it! There are some pretty songs in this show. The love story was great.
8. Jersey Boys
Me being a Jersey girl how could I not love this show? It’s all about Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons and their rise to fame.
9. Beauty And The Beast
I love this show and the movie as well. The stage version is so much better though. Calling all Disney fans again.
10. Waitress
And finally, this show is a pretty new musical so I haven’t actually seen it yet. But I have listened to the soundtrack, which is by Sara Barellis. I’ve fallen in love with two of its songs and hope to hear more soon! It has a beautiful story and lots of pie!!
If you don't agree with me on this list, at least we can agree musicals are the greatest creation on this here Earth.
