It's a process.
It has been said the ultimate level of intelligence is the ability to create, to make or build something new using the skill sets already available to you. People build birdhouses, furniture, houses and entire skyscrapers. It all depends on the proper tools. These projects may not be easy, but all have something in common. They require a certain skill set, attention to detail, and a plan in mind. In the same way, everyone, no matter career or status, is capable of building one thing: a person. Though it's possible, it may very well be the most difficult project you ever do, and some people never quite finish. It takes a lot of work, dedication and patience, so I’ve decided to create a step-by-step guide to help:
Step 1: Read the Instructions.
This is the step most people want to forget. The tendency is to jump straight into the project without any clear direction in mind or any idea where to place the pieces and parts. Therefore, the first step of building anything is to read the instructions. If you’ve made it this far, you’re on your way to successfully building a person.
Step 2: Pray for Patience.
A hearty dose of patience may be the most important ingredient in this project. People are not predictable machines; they’re silly, wild, crazy, sometimes stupid things. They can be rather frustrating, and it can be tempting to simply look at the length of the instruction manual and give up. However, with enough patience, I promise you the end result will be worth it, and you’ll have a terrific person on hand.
Step 3: Gather Materials
Speaking of hands, you’re going to need some:two, to be exact. You’ll also need two feet, two eyes, two ears, two legs, two arms, two lungs and lots of other body parts which come in pairs. This is an important part of the process. You may want to check the box twice, just to make sure you’re not leaving out anything. Building a person with missing parts can be rather frustrating, andwill make theresulting person much moresusceptible toirritabilityif it discovers it is missing pieces. Do your best to avoid this. Press on, even if you are missing a fewparts, though, as long as they'renon-vitals. The finished product will still be pretty darn amazing, and the perceived “mistake” may turn out to be nothing more than a unique bonus feature.
Step 4: Put the Parts Together
I would highly suggest starting with the body, as this is the simplest aspect of any person, otherwise known as a “human being.” A person can easily be put together by following the instructions and by studying the anatomy 101 handbook also included in this package. We suggest you work from the inside out as it will make the job much easier. Remember, you can’t undo mistakes, so slow and steady wins the race.
Step 5: Bring it to Life
After you have a fully assembled human being, you’re going to need to create a bit of content in order to bring it to life. It needs more than just a physical body. It needs what iscalled soul. It needs the ability to think. It needs substanceon which to reflect. It needs purpose. It needs a reason to smile, a reason to get up,walk, dance, and live. Be there for it, love it and help it to its feet.
Caution: Beespecially careful about the information fed into the brain. You must bevery careful about the content that goes in there, as it can be almost impossible to extract, and the wrong information will leech itself into the person like a deadly poison. You do not want that.
Now that everything is there, you may proceed to show off your new person to friends and family.
Congratulations! You now have a living, breathing, thinkingperson on your hands. As long as you treat it with all the kindness and respect and love you can offer, it will thank you and reciprocate those feelings toward you. Of course, this may not lastaslongas you'd planned.
Unfortunately, even in the early years of your person’s new life, it will require you to engage inquite a bit of repair work. The screws and bolts in its head will need to be reinforced. You may even need to take off some of the old material and replace it with something stronger. You’ll need to mend the smiling mechanism often. You may need to oil up the joints so it doesn’t begin to squeak, or even get stuck in one spot, unable to accomplish much of anything for a while. Each time the world breaks your person down, you’ll have to rearrange some parts and smooth out the edges.A person requires a dedication to themaintenance process, but trust me.There will be work, but the result will be priceless, and when you see that result inyour man'seyes, in the friend by your side, in the baby in your arms, or in the reflection before you…I promisethis:It will be worth it. It will be worth every painstaking, wonderfulstep. You've got yourself a person.
