Music- The medicine to our soul!

Love and heartbreak can share a few of the same symptoms, can't sleep, can't eat, and you find yourself staring into space. Heartbreak however can be diagnosed by a few differences to include but not limited to swollen puffy eyes, tear stained cheeks and the ache is your chest to simply breath.

Lucky for you there is a cure. How many times you will need to "take" this dose of medicine or better known as the "healing treatment" will depend on the depth and size of the break in your heart.

The first step is dressing for the occasion, pulling on the sweatpants that are worn a little thin from being old and your "fav" for 10 years, the oversized college sweatshirt from your freshman year, your hair pulled back in a messy pony, and all makeup removed.

Next you set the atmosphere; lights dim or off your preference, build a fire, light a few candles, you grab that blanket but not just any blanket "big fuzzy". You settle on the couch and sink deeper into the cushions hoping to suffocate the pain. You turn on the TV and searching, searching you find it; The Notebook. With the remote still in hand you click "mute" because you know every word to the movie by heart.

Now you are ready for the medicine, the music that will heal your heart and soul.

WAIT….something is missing!! I almost forgot a "crucial" step, the gallon of ice cream. Jumping from the couch and racing to the freezer then feeling a wave of relief as you realize it's there wait for you. You return to your position on the couch with the moose traxs in hand and the spoon. Not a standard spoon but the one for just such an occasion; the serving spoon!

Now your really ready. You search your iPhone and select the bluetooth setting which indicates "connected" to your mini bose, you find the "broken heart blues" playlist and hit "play".

Track 1 -"I Hate U, I Love U" by Olivia O'Brien

Track 2- "It Should Have Been Us" - by Tori Kelly

Track 3- "Stay With Me" - by Sam Smith

Track 4- "Say Something" - by A Great Big World

Track 5- "Love Stinks" - by J Geils Band

You are now out of tears and the sugar coma is taking hold. Your heart starts to send a signal to your mind and soul that your going to be ok.

Track 6- "Scars to Your Beautiful" - by Alessia Cara

Track 7- "Worth It' - by Fifth Harmony

Not just ok, better than ok!

Track 8- "Miss Independent" -by Kelly Clarkson

Track 9- "I Will Survive" - by Donna Summer

Track 10- "You Don't Own Me" -by Grace

Your eyes are heavy so you sleep.

Repeat treatment as needed!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
