Just like every girl has one of those boys that breaks their heart, they also have the one that takes really good care of it. After going through that sort-of-heartbreak and having negative feelings towards men, it's hard to let someone in, but then you meet the right one, it's worth it. It's the guy you never see coming, the one you're never looking for, who takes you by surprise and wins you over.

A year ago today, I never would have even thought about writing this. Being put through that sort of pain is hard to come back from, but then I met someone different and since the bad guys always get all the attention like "how to recover," or "how he made me stronger," I thought that maybe it's time to give a little love to the guy that changes your perspective on men for the better. So here's to yours and mine:

When I met you, I wasn't in the brightest of places. It was still hard to move on from certain things and even harder to find the good in guys when almost all of them seemed to be up to no good. But not you. You didn't come on too strong, you didn't take it too fast and you didn't push me too far out of my comfort zone. With you, things were easy. You took it slow and you worked things out with me instead of acting on selfish motives. You were fair and sweet. You brought me out of a serious funk and you helped me start to see some more good in guys.

When I first freaked out (and us girls always do), you handled it well. You didn't push me, you didn't try to change my mind, you just helped me figure it all out in the end. You quickly became one of my best friends. It hit me hard when I figured out how much you meant to me, but I didn't stand a chance with someone as good as you.

Thank you for simply teasing me, still spoiling me and being a perfect gentleman when I act like a crazy girl. Sometimes, it can be hard not to give into all that stress and you handle it very well. Thank you for showing me how much I deserved and always trying to be good for me. I only hope I can give all of that back. Thank you for letting me do cheesy things and not making fun of it all, when even I would make fun of myself. Thank you for getting sweet with me, for showing me off, for making feel special, like I hope this post does for you. Being with you, being with a good guy, is something that I never knew were in the cards for me.

Meeting you was the best surprise I've ever had. Thank you for showing me all of the great things I never knew I could have and never will take for granted now. There is no doubt in my mind I needed to meet you when I did. Thank you for completely flipping my outlook on relationships. You were definitely worth the shot.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
