I've always loved reading, ever since I could remember. Unfortunately, over the years, I haven't read as much as I would have liked to. One of the goals I set for myself this year is to read more and have more time to read. If you're in the same boat, or just want a good book to read, take a look at some of the books that I loved and are on my reading list.

Dumplin' by Julie Murphy

Much like everyone else, watched the movie on Netflix before I knew it was based off a book. I loved the movie so much when I found out it was a book, I bought it and read it in a day. It focuses on body positivity, mother-daughter relationships, and friendships and is absolutely amazing. If you haven't heard anything about this book/movie, read it first and then watch the movie.

Girl, Wash Your Face by Rachel HollisĀ

This isn't like your typical self- help book (in my opinion) it's kind of like a friend talking to a friend. It's an inspirational book that every girl should read to help navigate this crazy world. This is a great book to start of the new year and should be at the top of your list.

To All The Boys I've Loved Before by Jenny Han

  • This fun and light romance read was also turned into a really great Netflix movie that everyone raved about. While it is fun and easy to read, it still has a lot of important messages dealing with family and friends. It really was one of the best books I read in 2018.

#GIRLBOSS by Sophia Amoruso

  • Sophia Amoruso is the CEO of Nasty Gal (a clothing store), and a girl boss. She wrote this book back in 2015 about her journey to becoming a CEO. I can't wait to read this book because well I love Nasty Gal and I love girls empowering girls.

The Hate You Give by Angie Thomas

This book opened my eyes in more ways than one. It made me really look at the world around me and realizing that these things need to change. This book has so many different emotions, it's for sure worth the read.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
