It's FINALLY Spring Break! Yay! Time to wind down, catch your breath, and relax after the stress of midterms.
Some people hate the thought of reading: the work you have to put into it, having to keep your attention on it, and maybe even a bad experience have strayed them away. However, there are still several of us around who love nothing more than getting lost in a good book.
So here's a list of reads you know you have been dying to add to your list:
The Book Thief by Markus Zusak
If you are into Holocaust-era fiction, then this book is for you. This is, by far, my favorite book I've ever read (and I've read it multiple times). Don't be biased since it is a YA book; this book knows no age limits.
All The Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr
Another Holocaust-era fiction that will blow your mind. This book is beautifully written and manages to pull at those heart strings.
When Breathe Becomes Air by Paul Kalanithi
I discovered the art of memoirs my senior year of high school, and this by far tops the list. Beautifully written and heart-wrenching, this story takes us through the depths of what it is really like to have to face death.
The Five People You Meet In Heaven by Mitch Albom
In this short, inspirational novel, Albom revives hope of infinite time and forgiveness. This novel showcases how our life impacts us and how much reflection can reveal.
In a Dark, Dark Wood by Ruth Ware
If you are looking for a suspenseful, female-lead novel, look no further. In this thrilling book, Ware manages to keep her readers on the edge of their seats until the very end.
The Princess Saves Herself in This One by Amanda Lovelace
This set of poems allows readers to grasp the struggle and importance of independence, especially in women. Very influential and encouraging for women (and men) of all ages.
The Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare
This book series is easy to read and overall enjoyable. Escape to a new normal and discover a different world within our own!
Halo trilogy by Alexandria Adornetto
This series brings to life a new perspective of religion in a non-religious way. I read this in high school and loved the quality Adornetto gave to each character. Absolutely beautiful!
So whether you're laid out on the beach or curled up in a cabin, here are some novels to dig right into to escape the presence of reality.
