Black Girls: we are magical.

We come in many shades, but that only makes us better. From light to dark, our magic never dwells. Some people don't understand our magic and some don't believe it even exists.

Black Girls aren't angry; we are confident, strong and everything magical. Have you seen what we can do with our hair? Afro on Monday, Bantu knots on Tuesday, crochet braids on Wednesday, straight hair on Thursday and back to an Afro on Friday. How many people do you know who can have a different hairstyle every day? That's what we call Black Girl Magic.

A magic that can't be touched, so no, you may not touch our hair.

There is no one like us. We came from being the most hated person in America to the ones everyone looks up to. Black Girls, we're everywhere. We are actors, educators, leaders, comedians, and everything we were told we could never be.

We create our own magic.

We're all around the world creating and making a better place for us and other people. Our magic isn't only used on ourselves; we're not selfish.

Have you seen how beautiful we are? Do you wonder how we get our hair to look the way it does? Do you wish you had this magic?

Well, our magic is real.

We are no longer allowing others to ignore our existence. So to that little Black Girl with the 4c hair, don't you ever forget the magic you hold. The magic you possess could make you president one day. Every day look yourself in the mirror and say, "I am magical!"

To all my Black Girls, it's our time. We deserve it all, so let's go get it. There's nothing and no one who can't stop our magic. A magic that could save a race, our race. We are unstoppable, but we must stand together. We have to show our younger ones who they can be.

We are resilient. We are bold. We are absolutely amazing.

No one can steal who you are, so never stop being who you are. We are here and we aren't going anywhere.

This is for my Black Girls and no one else!

Instead of tearing each other down, we need to spread words of encouragement. Walk up to a random beautiful Black Girl and compliment her. So what she doesn't wear her natural hair, she is still magical. We are not defined by our hair, but it is beautiful none the less.

Three simple words that started a movement. A movement of hope and love. Black Girls deserve to have something we can call our own, so we're claiming ourselves. We are the captains of our own lives and we're never going to let someone take over again.

Black Girls, stand up and show the world the beauty you possess. Let your intelligence astonish them.

This is to all those Black Girls who don't believe in their magic. You must know your worth because you're worth more than you know.

To every Black Girl around the world:

There will never be anyone like us. We are a rare creation that can't be removed from Earth. Our magic is something no one else has.

My beautiful Black Queens we are the magical creatures they wish they could be. So raise your fist in the air and be proud of the skin you're in.

Now that's Black Girl Magic!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
