Here in the south, we are specifically known for our fried food, sweet tea and desserts. Birmingham certainly does not disappoint in any of these areas, especially desserts. In case you’re like me and have to live with a major sweet tooth at all time, check out my list of the top places to indulge in desserts while in Birmingham.

Steel City Pops

Native to Birmingham and in the heart of Homewood or down Highway 280. Hot or cold weather, a steel city pop is always a good idea!

Church Street Coffee and Books in Mountain Brook

Home to the one and only “break-up cookie.” Sweet and salty, it is a must have. Once you taste this cookie, there is no going back!

Olexa’s in Mountain Brook

A bakery known for its cakes, specifically for weddings.

Jackson’s

Famous for their fried cookie dough eggrolls, located in the heart of Homewood.

Insomnia Cookie in Southside

The perfect place to go if you’re out late at night. They are open until 3 a.m. My friends and I come here occasionally for study breaks.

Heavenly Doughnuts

Located in Cahaba Valley and are like none other.

Gigi’s Cupcakes in Hoover

Delicious and definitely worth the drive!

Edgar’s Bakery

There are several locations around the Birmingham area and they serve everything from café foods to decadent bakery items.

Their half baked cookie is another must have!
