Biggest Box Office Flops Of 2015

2015 was an excellent year for movie goers. Massive box office hits like "Star Wars," "Jurassic World" and "Avengers: Age of Ultron" brought in a record-breaking box office gross. But, with every roaring success came an epic failure.

Here are the top five biggest flops of 2015.

5. "Jem and the Holograms"

"Jem and the Holograms"... also known as "Who and the what?" If you've heard of this classic '80s cartoon, odds are your kids are the ones who didn't see this movie. And neither did you. Because nobody saw it, not even Jem. In the end, the film only made about $2.2 million back of the $5 million spent making the film. Lesson learned, if you're going to remake an '80s cartoon for a modern audience, you're gonna need some heavy-duty star power.

Pro Tip Yes, I'm saying Dwayne Johnson should have played Jem. I would've seen that.

4. "Unfinished Business"

I'll just start by saying this film did so poorly, it was so unknown, that I could not even find a GIF from the film to use in this article. Vince Vaughn, Dave Franco, and Tom Wilkinson star in this "comedy" about three business men going on a trip. I'd like to tell you more about the film, but I didn't see it. Apparently I wasn't the only one, because the film didn't even make back half of its $35 million budget. The film was also a critical failure, receiving an 11 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.

Pro Tip: Replace Dave with James and Tom Wilkinson with Tommy Wiseau. Box office Gold, baby.

3. "Blackhat"

"Blackhat" was really a victim of poor timing more than anything else. Sure the film was a little messy and maybe the story was a little silly but still, not a bad action film. I mean just think about it, you have one of the biggest action stars in the world Chris Hemsworth, a talented writer, and an original idea. What could go wrong? Well for starters, you could open the movie the same day as "American Sniper," which went on to bring in over $90 million while "Blackhat" limped on carrying only $19 million by the end of its run. Not bad, but when you take into account the films massive $70 million budget you can see why this film was so high on the list.

Pro Tip: Give Chris Hemsworth a hammer. Works every time.

2. "The Gunman"

This is the only film on the list that I had not heard of prior to researching the article. The Gunman stars Spicoli Sean Penn as an ex-assassin who is on the run from another former assassin. Sounds exciting right? Not exciting enough, because this film just could not find an audience. I guess everyone was too busy seeing that new Divergent movie, or maybe Sean Penn just isn't the action star he used to be. Either way, the film only made $10 million of its $41 million production budget.

1. "Rock the Kasbah"

HOLD UP! You're telling me Bill Murray and Bruce Willis, two of Hollywoods biggest stars, made a flop? No way. Not a chance. Well... OK I guess it can happen once or twice... "Rock the Kasbah" is the story of a talent agent trying to create a star in Afghanistan. Sounds...hilarious? I'm not sure, and neither was the rest of the public. The film bombed pulling in a laughable $1.4 million its opening weekend, and only doubling that number by the end of its month-long run. With a budget of $15 million, this film only managed to make back 19 percent of its total budget, making it the biggest box office flop of 2015.

Well, there's the list! What did you think of these financial disasters? What films do you look forward to missing in 2016?

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
