Having to explain to your friends that your family is loud whenever the family gets together, I have to tell them its just the Italian coming out.
Coming from a large family teaches you about respect, team work, compromising, sharing and giving, and having support.
Let's talk about how fortunate and grateful for those of us who have grown up in large families are to be surrounded by a big support system. I can't tell you how many times I've just gone over to my aunt's house or grandma's house just to hang out and talk with everyone and laugh.
This image above explains my whole family's get togethers on point. There have been countless times where I swear that we are all in competition to see who can talk the loudest, especially if there has been wine involved. I wouldn't trade it for the world though because we always have a good time.
How many of you at family get togethers have multiple tables and chairs with decorations, appetizers, drinks, and napkins all set out for people to sit and gather to talk? Isn't the best part when everyone comes together and tells funny stories that have happened in the past or from when they grew up? For example, I remember one time my uncle when he was younger went to a fair and won a baby goat. My uncle brought that baby goat home and named him Billy, of course the family fell in love with him. One day Billy had ate some of my grandma's plants, ended up getting sick, and died. My mom was an emotional mess and called my grandma about Billy dying. My uncle on the other hand got a shovel dug up a hole and put billy in it. My mom was not to happy about this and was crying so much she could barely get words out.
Also, the family vacations once every summer are always the best part of having a big family! Think about it! There are countless of memories to be made and no one is left out. Oh my goodness, I can't even begin to describe to you the stories I've told to my friends about our trips. My family is a fun time to be around on vacation because everyone is laid back and cool. One time we were renting a house over the summer in the outer banks, my cousins and brothers are playing video games during a storm. I'm sure you can see where this is going but one of my cousins got shocked as she was playing the game. Of course, at the time everyone laughed but it really wasn't funny at all, but it scared her.
Who else thinks it takes forever to get anything done when you have family get togethers because everyone is either talking or laughing, playing games, or watching tv? With it being all so chaotic everyone is all over the place (which I always find hysterical because something always happens) and things get misplaced or dropped or someone trips over something every time.
I'm proud to come from a loud Italian, but loving family. Everyone is always wanting to come to our get togethers because we always have a good time. So cheers to being Italian and coming from a big family who has your back.
