All too often we feel overcome by bitterness, lust, greed, anger, and many other emotions that Satan likes to implement inside us. That's his job basically and he loves going to work every day. It's his goal to break us down until we are nothing.

But we have a secret weapon.

One who has already defeated the Enemy at the cross.

Jesus.

These verses make the enemy and his minions cringe because they serve as a constant reminder that he is defeated, and they have no chance against any Christian.

1. A Reminder That Jesus Always Wins

Hebrews 2:14

"Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might break the power of him who holds the power of death—that is, the devil."

Colossians 1:13, 2:15

"He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son.

He disarmed the rulers and authorities and put them to open shame, by triumphing over them in him."

1 John 3:8

"Whoever makes a practice of sinning is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil."

Revelation 12:11

"And they have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, for they loved not their lives even unto death."

"These verses prove that Jesus has undoubtedly delivered us from the darkness and that we don't have any need to fear. Jesus died for us, and in doing so, won the fight."

2. Authority

Jesus has given us His authority and power to cast out demons. God calls for us to fight the battle and that we have nothing to be afraid of. We are soldiers of God, and He will give us the power and abilities to win.

Luke 9:1

"And he called the twelve together and gave them power and authority over all demons and to cure diseases."

James 4:7

"Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you."

Psalm 44:5

"Through you we push down our foes;
through your name we tread down those who rise up against us."

Deuteronomy 9:3

"Know therefore today that he who goes over before you as a consuming fire is the Lord your God. He will destroy them and subdue them before you. So you shall drive them out and make them perish quickly, as the Lord has promised you."

3. Call the Angels.

Angels will fight for us and come for us. All we have to do is ask God to put them around us when we feel that the enemy is trying to take a direct hit at us.

Psalm 91:11

"For he will command his angels concerning you
to guard you in all your ways."

Exodus 23:20

"Behold, I send an angel before you to guard you on the way and to bring you to the place that I have prepared."

Psalm 34:7

"The angel of the Lord encamps
around those who fear him, and delivers them."

4. Weaken the devil.

In John 7:38 it says that Jesus proclaims that out of our heart will flow river of living water. The enemy wants to suck that dry until there is nothing left. Over in Matthew 12:43-45, it says that demons are looking and waiting for water to feed and drink from in the spiritual realm. Therefore here are some verses to dry out their waters and weaken them.

Jeremiah 50:38

"A drought against her waters,
that they may be dried up!
For it is a land of images,
and they are mad over idols."

Jeremiah 51:36-37

"Therefore thus says the Lord:
“Behold, I will plead your cause
and take vengeance for you.
I will dry up her sea
and make her fountain dry,
and Babylon shall become a heap of ruins,
the haunt of jackals,
a horror and a hissing,
without inhabitant."

Nahum 1:3-4

"The Lord is slow to anger and great in power,
and the Lord will by no means clear the guilty.
His way is in whirlwind and storm,
and the clouds are the dust of his feet.
He rebukes the sea and makes it dry;
he dries up all the rivers;
Bashan and Carmel wither;
the bloom of Lebanon withers."

I hope these verses help, and I just want to remind you that you are loved for by the one and only God who will do anything to protect you. He is almighty and can and will move mountains for you.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
