Hello beautiful people,

In times of trouble or high stress, it is easy to leave God behind or blame him for the scary things in your life. I know I have struggled with this throughout my life; balancing God and emotions can be a difficult task.

However, instead of leaving behind your relationship with God, we can look to the Bible to help re-integrate him into our lives, especially when we are struggling. He can help to guide you into the light, even when it seems there is none.

God is here for you; he always has been and always will be. These nine quotes help to show God’s impact in your life. He wants you to feel loved, and so do I!

1. Isaiah 41:10 – For the times you feel alone

“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous hand.”

2. Psalm 34:17-18 – For the times you feel broken

“The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”

3. Matthew 6:25-27 – For the times material possessions become overwhelming

“For this reason I say to you, do not be worries about your life, as to what you will eat or what you will drink; nor for your body, as to what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they? And who of you by being worried can add a single hour to his life?”

4. 1 Peter 4:8 – For the times you struggle with forgiveness

“Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.”

5. Romans 8:38-39 – For the times you feel far from God

“For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

6. Psalm 23:4-6 – For the times the future scares you

“Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”

7. Philippians 4:6-7 – For the times you are anxious or stressed

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And in the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

8. Isaiah 43:1-2 – For the times you struggle to feel God’s presence

“Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.”

9. Matthew 11:28 – For the times you are exhausted

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

Always remember that God’s ever-present love in your life. Stay beautiful!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
