Best Things To Do in New York City at Christmas Time

Best Things To Do in New York City at Christmas Time

If you have the opportunity to spend a few days in New York City at Christmas time, then you’ll experience decorations, shopping and holiday spirit that is full of good ol’ NYC glamour. 

Here’s a list of must-dos if you find yourself in Manhattan before December 25.

1. The Tree in Rockefeller Center

As soon as you make your entrance into the Big Apple, head straight to Rockefeller Center to feast your eyes on America’s most famous Christmas tree. This year’s tree rings in at 85 feet tall and is wrapped in 45,000 sparkling LED lights.    

2. Window Shopping on 5th Avenue   

Check out the world-famous displays that emerge in the windows of Bergdorf Goodman, Saks 5th Avenue and Macy’s around this time of year. With intricate detail and moving parts, each display tells its own story and captures the glitz and glam of Christmas in New York.    

4. Ice Skating 

Whether it’s in Rockefeller Center, Bryant Park or Central Park, lace up your skates and hit the ice. Ice skating is even more fun when you’re surrounded on all sides by New York’s amazing skyline. When you’re finished, head to one of New York’s famous bakeries for some hot chocolate and macaroons.       

5. Christmas Markets in Bryant Park 

After a few rounds on the rink, walk through the vendors that set up for the Christmas Market in Bryant Park. From artisan Christmas decorations to handcrafted New York souvenirs, this is a perfect place to pick up gifts for the fam.   

6. The Rockettes 

A trip to Radio City Hall is an absolute must during the Christmas season. The Rockettes have been a New York staple since 1930. The famous Christmas show has been updated with special effects and incredible stages, yet it still maintains its Broadway show vibe.    

8.  Get an Early Glimpse at the Ball 

Last but not least, go to Times Square for a classic New York City photo op. The ball is already hoisted in its spot ready for the 2015 New Year’s Eve festivities.
