10 Of The Best Study Spots At FSU

If the library isn't for you, you'll be sure to love at least one of the other spots on this list!

Studying may be one of the worst parts about college, but also one of the most important. During the first semester of my freshman year, I fell into the habit of doing all my homework and studying in my dorm, and it started to suck. After talking to my friends and becoming more comfortable with campus, I have found that there are much better locations around campus to study! Studying doesn't have to be as bad as we tend to make it out to be, especially if you're in a spot that allows you to be comfortable and productive!

1. Landis.

If the weather is nice, one of my favorite things to do is grab my towel and backpack and then lay down on Landis. Sitting in the shade with my laptop, soaking in the beautiful weather is a great way for me to be productive. Not to mention you might be lucky enough to see some really cute puppies running around!

2. Sweetshop.

Sweetshop is located right across the street from campus, and if you're looking to grab a bite while studying, this is a great option. It is usually pretty packed, but if you like studying in a busy environment, while also snacking on some great fruit (and maybe even an iced coffee), consider checking it out!

3. Strozier/Dirac library.

The library isn't for everyone, but for those of us who thrive off of a quiet and structured environment, hitting up the library to do work is your best bet. Not to mention the libraries on campus also have private study rooms that you can book if you really need a quiet space to focus!

4. Starbucks.

Starbucks is one of my favorite places to study. If you don't want to hit up one of the Starbucks locations on campus, consider the one on Tennessee Street, which is still walking distance from campus. Grinding out an essay while also sipping on an iced chai tea latte really helps me get in the zone.

5. William Johnston Building.

This newly renovated building is another great study spot on campus. It has tons of seating, features the ACE Tutoring Studio, and is almost never crowded. If you want a space where you can access tutoring and also do your own thing, WBJ is for you. Not to mention, it is literally right across from Chick Fil A and Suwannee, so you don't need to worry about going hungry while you study.

6. Greenwise Market.

If you're up for a 15-minute walk to Collegetown, Greenwise might become your new favorite study spot (it's definitely mine). Greenwise has tons of outdoor and indoor seating, a salad bar, pizza bar, coffee shop, and tons of great deals on groceries! Grab yourself a coffee/snack and you're all set.

7. The Rez.

This may seem like an unconventional study spot, but if you're not too overloaded with work, driving out to the Rez to do some reading or a writing assignment is another great option. You get to soak up some Vitamin D, catch up on work, and enjoy all the activities offered when its time for a study break!

8. Dorm study rooms.

Even though studying in the dorms is not my personal favorite, some people really like it! Most dorms have a study room on each floor, which can be a great place if you don't want all the distractions you might have in your room. This is also a great option for late night studying when you don't want to wake your roommate up, but don't feel like leaving the dorm.

9.  Cascades Park.

Sticking to the theme of outdoor studying, Cascades Park offers a great serene environment. There is also a cafe right under The Edison restaurant, so if you need a coffee or snack, they've got you covered!

10. Seminole Cafe.

Seminole Cafe is usually a lot less busy than Suwannee and can be a great place to study and do work. They have tons of seating and great food options. If you're not a fan of studying outside, consider the dining hall!

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.
