We've finally reached what most students consider the worst part of the entire school year; final exams. This is the part of the year that we all dread. Projects, exams, and papers are all of a sudden creeping up on us, and we have to start getting to work and studying. While most people like to resort to the library (like myself), it becomes almost impossible to find a seat or a table the closer it gets to finals week. However, App has a ton of other great places to study on campus, or close by!
1. The Plemmons Student Union
While this is a pretty obvious place to study on campus, it's always a great place to go when the library isn't cutting it for you. A place a lot of people go to study here is Crossroads Coffee House. If you're looking for somewhere quieter, this might not be the place for you. Crossroads is where a lot of people meet up to do projects or hang out. Sometimes, Crossroads also has live music, and that may make it hard for some people to study.
Quieter places and rooms in the union to study are the Solarium, Whitewater, Wiseman's View Lounge, and the third floor of the union around the circle! These places are a lot quieter and low-key. If you're feeling like getting outside, it's never a bad option to study right outside of the union on Sanford Mall when it's a beautiful day!
2. The lobby area of Rankin Science South
Now, I'm nowhere near a science major. However, right inside the doors of Rankin Science South, there is a very peaceful lobby-like area. There are a few tables and benches that look right at the little rock museum we have. It's a pretty quiet and peaceful area that a lot of people on campus may not know about. There are some pretty big windows that shine in a nice amount of light to make it peaceful to get any type of work done.
3. The river that runs through Durham Park
While anywhere in Durham park would be a beautiful place to study, sitting on a rock or a bench down by the little stream is an extremely peaceful place to get some work done. The combination of the nice sound of the river and nice weather makes it for a great area to write that paper you have been procrastinating on.
4. The second floor of Walker Hall
You definitely don't have to be a business or communications major to enjoy studying in Walker Hall. The second floor of Walker has a few tables and chairs right by the windows that gives you a nice view of the west side of campus. If you walk further down the hallway, there is a large computer lab filled with tables, computers, and comfy chairs that will ensure you will get your work done!
