For all of us on the Pokemon Go bandwagon, gym battles are incredibly important. Once a player reaches level five, they choose a team and can then begin to battle gyms. If you’re like me, you tend to only focus on the combat power of the Pokemon, and look over the moves your Pokemon know. However, the moves your Pokemon know play a huge role in battles, as some are more powerful than others. Another thing to keep in mind is that Pokemon have elemental types; making some moves more or less effective against a different elemental type. Moves that are less effective do about 80 percent of the moves damage, while more effective moves do about 125 percent of the original damage. Taking all of this into account, I have made a list of the top five quick moves and the top five special moves, based on the amount of damage the move does per second. Let’s begin!
Top five quick moves:
1. Pound
Clocking in at No. 1 is the move Pound, dealing about 13 damage per second. Pound is a normal type of move that can be learned by a few normal types, some psychic type,s and a fairy type Pokemon.
2. Metal Claw
Metal Claw takes second place, dealing around 12.7 damage per second. However, the steel type move can only be learned by two Pokemon, Sandslash and Kingler.
3. Psycho Cut
The psychic type move "psycho cut" slides in third place with an impressive 12.3 damage per second. This move, similar to Metal Claw, can only be learned by three Pokemon, Kadabra, Alakazam, and Mewtwo.
4. Scratch, Water Gun, Wing Attack, Bite and Dragon Breath
Alright, so fourth place has a five-way tie! All five of these moves deal 12 damage per second, giving us this tie. Scratch can be learned by some ground and normal types, Water gun can be learned by most water types, Wing Attack can be learned by some flying types, Bite can be learned by mainly poison types, and finally Dragon Breath can be learned by Dratini and its evolutions, Seadra, and Garydos.
5. Fire Fang
Fire Fang steals fifth place with 11.9 damage per second. While this move is quite strong, it can only be learned by one Pokemon, Arcanine.
Top 5 Special moves:
1. Cross Chop
Cross Chop comes in the No. 1 spot with 30 damage per second. The fighting move can be learned by fighting types like Machop and Mankey.
2. Stone Edge
This move comes in second, dealing about 25.8 damage per second. The move can be learned by some ground and fighting types.
3. Blizzard
Taking third place is the move Blizzard. The move does about 25.7 damage per second and has the potential to be learned by many ice type Pokemon.
4. Body Slam
Fourth place is claimed by Body Slam, falling just short of Blizzard, with 25.6 damage per second. The move can be learned by many first evolutions of normal type Pokemon.
5. Power Whip
Finally, the move Power Whip takes fifth place with 25 damage per second. The grass type move can be learned by many grass type Pokemon.
And that’s it for this list! Hopefully I’ve taught you a little bit about Pokemon Go and the stats of the game!
