College is a great time to bond with friends and have fun adventures. Taking pictures is one of the best ways to capture these experiences. Listed are some of the most fun (and mainstream) places in Georgetown to display your fun four years.
1. “The Wave”
This might be the most mainstream place in town to take a picture. It shows your intense love of art history without straying too far from campus. Taking a picture here might be as typical as wearing a spirit jersey and leggings, but it is still beautiful and a great place to strike a pose.
2. Healy
Photos taken here just scream “Georgetown.” Everyone has a Healy picture, as they are preferable to pictures in front of Brutalist Lau. The Romanesque revival architecture looks beautiful every day, whether in the pouring rain or blue skies. The archetypical Georgetown student loves taking pictures in front of Healy, and it is the perfect place to remember college.
3. "The Exorcist" steps
Best known for gaining fame in the 1973 “The Exorcist,” these creepy, steep steps are the best place for dramatic photos and killer workouts. One can pretend like he or she is tumbling down the stairs, or pose in front of the stairs pre-run for a unique photo perspective.
4. The Waterfront
The Georgetown Waterfront is arguably one of the most beautiful spots in Washington. Spectators can see the crew team rowing through a tough workout as well as kayakers on the Potomac enjoying a day outdoors. The setting is always beautiful, and is a great setting for a nice hangout with friends, either day or night.
5. Anywhere with Jack the Bulldog
Forget Bradley Cooper and Bill Clinton, Jack is easily Georgetown’s biggest local celebrity. Snapping a picture with him, either the costumed mascot or the bulldog in the flesh, is a Hoya’s dream. No matter where the picture is taken, any photographic representation shows Georgetown spirit, and is sure to incite jealousy from other students.
6. One of the brightly colored townhouses in Georgetown
Georgetown easily has one of the most beautiful campuses in the country, and its surrounding neighborhood does not disappoint. The vibrant townhouses are easy to brighten anyone’s mood and look beautiful in photographs.
The memories one makes at Georgetown will last a lifetime, and the best way to remember them is through photos. These places epitomize “Hoya Saxa,” and will still be notable long after leaving the Hilltop.
