2018 Has Gifted Us With New Sounds

January's almost through, but we've gotten some pretty cool music to start off the year.

The best part of starting off the new year is here: new music!

It’s only January, so that means there’ll be a lot of new music upcoming, but so far, we’re off to a pretty good start. A lot of artists who’ve been really feature heavy the past couple of years are starting to release their own music again (finally), and a great example of that is A$AP Rocky.

His last album came out in 2015 (when I was a freshman!) and he’s mostly been hopping on other people’s tracks since then (with the exception of both Cozy Tapes albums, which have been collabs with all of the A$AP Mob) — until this month, that is. He dropped a couple of new tracks this month on his SoundCloud, and while I’m more of an A$AP Ferg fan, I’m definitely excited to hear more.

In boring news, Justin Timberlake dropped a couple singles, a weird music video, and will eventually drop an album blah blah (no-one cares) man in the woods boring boring blah blah.

In even more boring news, Sad God Drake decided to bless (?) us with two new tracks that manage to a) sound exactly the same AND b) sound exactly like everything he’s put out since 2015. At this point, listening to a new Drake song is the auditory equivalent of taking a big yawn. But I mean....thanks for the new material?

In super exciting (at least, for me) news, musical genius and the love of my life, James Blake put out an excellent new single, one that left me feeling super chill and introspective and also slightly desperate for a new album. But it’s barely been two years — if that much time — since his last album, so I’m betting that won’t be for a while. I can hope, though!

Now, if we can get Frank Ocean to drop more material — it doesn’t even have to be new stuff, since clearly Frank is sitting on a goldmine’s worth of single and album worthy content — then 2018 will truly be made.

Here’s hoping!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
