If you have ever seen the hilarious comedy "The Middle," you know exactly who Sue is and how fantastic her character dynamic has become over the years. She lives the most awkward, hilarious, and ultimately relatable life. I had to pick apart a few of my favorite aspects of her character.
1. Public outings
Trust me Sue, I feel this on a sadly personal level.
2. Vibing with Frankie
Because who doesn’t appreciate a night out on the town with Mom?
3. Melodramatic Episodes
No one can hang out? I must not have enough friends.
4. Processing the actions you can’t take back
It happens to the best of us, Sue. We’ve all regrettably twerked a time or two.
5. Trying to get in shape
We all know how this goes. One minute you have yourself convinced you are going to go to the gym and dedicate the summer to personal fitness. However, before you know it you are watching the five minute workout tutorials and doing the bare minimum-- still anticipating results.
6. Some days are just bad days
This is without question one of those days. You know, the days where you wake up and from the point you wake up to the point your head hits the pillow that night that nothing seems to go your way…
7. Valuing others opinions on your personal appearance
Easy to do, harder not to do. Second guessing your appearance is just part of it all.
8. Chick-flicks
Chick-flicks were the pinnacle of my middle school existence. I would be shocked if I was the only one.
9. Wanting to make changes to yourself… just because you can.
If there is anything that sums up college or living on your own, this might be it. Everyone gets where they are going and seems to want to get new tattoos or piercings out of pure spontaneity!
10. Counting on those who have had your back unconditionally
Moms, dads, whoever it may be… you have to have someone to fall back on; someone to make the bad days a little better.
Sue Heck is iconic character who doesn't receive the credit that is due for portraying the struggles of being a teenage girl. You have your awkward days, bad days, and some of the best days. Strung together, it can seem like a lot. Luckily, we have a little humor to get through the tough stuff. As for everything else, you gotta take it day by day and enjoy it while you can.
