I Just Found The Best Doughnut Place

And no, it's not Krispy Kreme.

I Just Found The Best Doughnut Place
Sarah Fetter

I decided at last minute that I would make the 2-hour drive to Ocean City, New Jersey, the beach that's most likely the closest to me. It was the first time this summer that I would stay for more than a day, so I decided to make it worth my while and do some shopping on Asbury Avenue while I was there.

Let me tell you, my feet led me to the cutest little doughnut joint in town. Fractured Prune is located at 1225 Asbury Avenue in OCNJ, and it thrives off of made-to-order specialty doughnuts. They have lots of other locations located on their website: https://fracturedprune.com/.

The shop has 19 glazes:

  • Banana
  • Blackberry
  • Blueberry
  • Caramel
  • Cherry
  • Chocolate
  • Honey
  • Key Lime
  • Lemon
  • Maple
  • Marshmallow
  • Mocha
  • Mint
  • Mixed berry
  • Orange
  • Peach
  • Raspberry
  • Strawberry
  • Vanilla

And 13 toppings:

  • Chocolate Sprinkles
  • Cinnamon & Sugar
  • Cookie Crumbs
  • Crumbled Bacon
  • Graham Crackers
  • Granulated Sugar
  • Mini Chocolate Chips
  • Mini Candy-Coated Chocolates
  • Mini Marshmallows
  • Powdered Sugar
  • Rainbow Sprinkles
  • Sea Salt
  • Vanilla Wafers
They also have a list of pre-made combinations in the event you can't decide. I know I definitely couldn't.

I got a half dozen just to try, each one completely different from the last. I got glazes I never knew could be put on...topping combinations that I otherwise never would have tried. I also got a caramel macchiato and it was a great partner to my warm doughnut. You can also save them and reheat later, or just eat them at room temp if you prefer.

I found their name kinda quirky, but my questions were answered when I read their founding sign on the wall. Apparently, there was an older lady in OC, Maryland named Prunella Shriek, known as "Fractured Prunella" for the broken bones she suffered competing in traditionally men's sports even into her 70s. The doughnut shop aims to celebrate individuality and spunk with each doughnut creation. They even have a doughnut dedicated to the legend herself, named Ms. Prunella respectively, with blueberry glaze and cinnamon sugar on top. Pretty cool!

I surprisingly found locations in West Chester and Audobon, PA, which are insanely close to me...so catch me waking up every morning at school to a delicious FP doughnut!! *insert heart eyes here*

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
