Over time there have been many, many songs produced about the end of the work week and the working class of America. Some new, some old, some iconic, some not so iconic. But in my opinion, these are the best songs to listen to on a Friday afternoon on the way home from work.
1) Drink In My Hand by Eric Church
With the first words of the song being, "early Monday morning to Friday at 5, man I work, work, work but I don't climb, climb climb." It calls out all of us that have 9 to 5 jobs from Monday to Friday. It also explains how he is a hard working individual who is waiting to move up the corporate ladder. Empowering us with words of seeing friends after the long work week, it is a great song to celebrate the end of the week
2) Drinking Class by Lee Brice
Similar to Church's ballad Brice explains of the hard working individuals who live for the end of the work week. With examples of the working man and talking about clocking and being up when the rooster crows. It gets you in that spot and makes the fact of getting up early for the past 5 days straight not so bad.
3) Round Here by Florida Georgia Line
Another great song discussing the group who leaves work to go out with their friends. They look for a "feeling alright Saturday night and thats how we do it round here." It also embodies old school America by mentioning the iconic examples wild cherry coke and Saturday night. It doesn't get much better than that.
4) Chicken Fried by Zac Brown Band
Arguably one of the most patriotic songs released in recent years. Discussing a cold beer on a Friday night and loud music it screams the end of the week is here and enjoy it. It briefly exemplifies Brown's background and tells how he grew up a hardworking individual. He even mentions the stars and stripes and his admiration for them. Nothing better than this song on your way home from work with the windows down on a summer Friday.
5) It's 5 O'Clock Somewhere ft. Jimmy Buffett by Alan Jackson
What end of the work week list would this be without having the most iconic song ever. Alan describes the work week moving slow and how he wishes it was 5 o'clock already so he can go home and have a nice strong drink with his friends. This song is the most well known ballad about the work week ending and going out after work for happy hour. Many places that have happy hour even embody the 5 o'clock somewhere attitude. Thanks to Alan and Jimmy, we can enjoy happy hour.
Well there you have it, the best songs to listen to on your drive home from work this upcoming Friday. Hope I can make it a little easier for everyone as it makes it easier for me.
