5 Brunch Places in Los Angeles You Must Try

Brunch is arguably the best meal of the day. Breakfast requires you to be up early, and there's sort of that expectation that you'll start your day with something super healthy. (Does anyone else not like smoothies?!) Lunch is fine, but the classic lunch foods can be a little boring -- think sandwiches or a salad. Alright. Finally, there's dinner. It's a very versatile meal period, but still one where serving breakfast foods would be a "special occasion." This makes dinner easily a close second behind brunch. Brunch is the ultimate meal period. You can eat pancakes, a few strips of bacon, a waffle, a mimosa, or a burger. Or, you can eat all of the above. Plus, you don't have to be up at the crack of dawn to enjoy it! What's not to love?

Unfortunately, the restaurant industry has caught on. This means that in some places (and at some particular restaurants), a meal will suddenly be $3 more because it's part of the brunch menu rather than a regular breakfast menu. And unfortunately for Angelenos, our city is the 4th most expensive for brunch in the U.S. Might want to rethink that bottomless mimosa next time...

Still, there are some amazing places in LA that you must try for brunch at some point. Our city is packed full of amazing restaurants, which is a double edged sword -- great for your belly, but not so great for your wallet. Regardless, here are 5 great brunch places worth trying.

Kismet

Location: Los Feliz

If you're into cinnamon babka toast or some flaky bread, then this is the place for you. This Mediterranean spot isn't your typical brunch restaurant, but it's sure to satisfy your hunger. You can get everything from a tender scone to a healthy salad (or both).

Farm Shop

Location: Santa Monica

Go here if you want a classic French breakfast. I mean, who doesn't want to feast on flaky, freshly-made croissants? With that, you can get morning classics like eggs, bacon, potatoes, and more.

The Serving Spoon

Location: Inglewood

Visit Their Website

This place has been open since the 1980s and it's still going strong. This is the spot to go for a classic diner experience. Order the chicken and waffles, and you won't be disappointed (unless you're vegetarian -- in which case, just go for the waffles).

Doubting Thomas

Location: Historic Filipinotown

Visit Their Website

This is a relatively new spot in Los Angeles, but definitely worth a visit. It's a coffee bar and bakery that serves up some delicious food. If you're into breakfast burritos or quesadillas, this is the spot for you.

Salt’s Cure

Location: Hollywood

This place sources all of their ingredients from California -- isn't that cool? Plus, they serve up a mean plate of biscuits and gravy. This is the place to go if you want a classic breakfast/brunch with some local flair. They only serve brunch on the weekends, so plan accordingly! It'll definitely be worth your while.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
