We grow up with the mindset that nothing can really hurt us and then we realize there are true evils in the world that we never expected to encounter.
At age 6, we would've never thought about losing a loved one. But for me, by then, my grandma was extremely sick. By age 7, she had passed.
At age 10, we get over the "boys/girls have cooties" phase (at least for me). I hadn't associated much with boys or felt I had a "crush" on anyone until I was 11. I was a late bloomer when it came to that stuff. Still am a late bloomer.
At age 13, my first heartbreak occurred when I moved away from my hometown. Most 13 year olds are excited because it's their last year of intermediate/middle school.
At age 16, I experienced my first romantic (yet not) relationship. I was a sophomore and had really developed feelings for this boy and as did he for me. Things ended on a poor note.
At age 17, I experienced another loss of a family member, started my senior year, and made many friends.
At age 18, I moved three hours away from home to begin my future and pursue my dreams at a collegiate level.
At age 18, I fell in love with my best friend and we began talking about what could occur
Though we are hurt, we manage to find the strength within ourselves to overcome the evils of society. We manage to fix the issues we have, independently.
I personally have had a rough 18 years, but I've realized that they have sculpted and molded me into the human I am today and I'm extremely thankful for that.
Hardships. Heartbreak. Disappointments. Bad grades (don't define you). Rude people. Friendships lost.
Life isn't supposed to be like a movie set or a perfect painting, like is the process in between the movie. Life is the numerous acts, the retakes, the final product is when you are one with yourself.
We are humans. We will experience let downs. We will experience the negatives.
Do not let those negatives get you down. Negatives fuel positives. You can get through whatever you're going through because I believe in you.
I might not know you, but you have within yourself the strength, courage, and passion to build yourself back up. You will succeed. You will become a great phenomenon. It may not be worldwide, but you are a phenomenon.
Be YOU.
