Nothing is more awkward than the week of Thanksgiving. Wouldn't it just be easier to skip Thanksgiving all together? I mean really it's just an opportunity to run into people from high school you don't want to see.
If you had an awkward Thanksgiving break, there's only one group of people able to describe it better than I can. Here it is, the 11 things you must have encountered while you were home for Thanksgiving break, as told by "The Office".
1. Running into your HS archenemies at the most inconvenient time and place
I didn't shower and I'm in a groufit. Any other day than today would have been a fine day to rumble. But today I will just look down and run away in shame.
2. Wanting to go out but also not wanting to get out of bed
3. Nap time was a priority over your school work
Your GPA may be doomed but you have never felt more rested. You win some, you lose some I guess.
4. Mom: "here's a list of chores to do while I'm out"
A BIG FAT ZERO. No Mom, I will not clean the house. I am a adult. You cannot ground or control me anymore.
5. Catching up with your homies after too many months of separation
Dance party in the kitchen? Sounds about right
6. When your grandparents ask you to do the mannequin challenge at dinner
How do these baby boomers know what that is? Why are they asking me to face swap with them on Snapchat? Seriously, who gave these old people access to the Internet I can't handle it.
7. Ignoring Uncle John who decided to interrupt turkey dinner with talk about politics
Seriously, who invited that guy anyway? Shove some turkey down his throat, no one needs to talk about the election right now.
8.Going to Applebee's for half priced apps
Although most of us are broke college students, $10 magically appears when the word "Applebees" is tossed around the group chat. It's the easiest way to catch up with your peeps. It's also the cheapest.
9. Calling everyone and their mother to make plans because you cannot stand to be under the same roof as your parents any longer
10. The "sorry I fell asleep. Can we hangout tomorrow?" text:
11. Realizing how sad and bland your hometown is and how thankful you are to head back to school
When we were kids Thanksgiving meant making cut-out turkey crafts and running around Grandmom's house with our cousins. Now, Thanksgiving is a chance to take a break from gross college food and beg your parents for some extra cash. The break is barely enough time to catch up with your friends and it is certainly not enough time to catch up on your zzz's. Thankfully it's over and we can all look forward to Winter break... except before Winter break comes finals and no one is looking forward to those.
If you related to this montage of Thanksgiving break gifs, please share it with you friends and let them know you are thinking of them. They need it heading into this hell week of this semester.
