"On my honor, I will never betray my badge, my integrity, my character, or the public trust. I will always have the courage to hold myself and others accountable for our actions. I will always uphold the constitution my community and the agency I serve."
"Officer Shot." "The Thinning Blue Line." "15 Lost in Line of Duty." These are words we hear on the news day after day. Yet, men and women get up, put on their uniforms and stand on the front line everyday. They spend 9 weeks studying law and physically training and at the end, they say the words above. It's called the Law Enforcement Oath of Honor. Now, I know that bad things happen, and police brutality stories are in the media more times than we can count. I'm not ignoring nor condoning the behavior of some of the officers in America. I do, however, support the people that risk their lives to keep American citizens safe. Not all cops are bad, and not all cops are good. That's what happens when we live in a world that is corrupt with sin. You may ask "Why should we listen to them?". Well, because the Bible tells us to. That might sound like the Sunday School answer, but it's true. Romans 13:1-7 says
"Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God. Therefore whoever resists the authorities resists what God has appointed, and those who resist will incur judgment. For rulers are not a terror to good conduct, but to bad. Would you have no fear of the one who is in authority? Then do what is good, and you will receive his approval, for he is God's servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword in vain. For he is the servant of God, an avenger who carries out God's wrath on the wrongdoer. Therefore one must be in subjection, not only to avoid God's wrath but also for the sake of conscience. For because of this you also pay taxes, for the authorities are ministers of God, attending to this very thing. Pay to all what is owed to them: taxes to whom taxes are owed, revenue to whom revenue is owed, respect to whom respect is owed, honor to whom honor is owed."
The people who are protecting you and giving you speeding tickets, they are instituted by God himself! If you resist and disobey the authority set in place, then you are questioning whether the all-knowing and powerful God made the right decision! I don't know about you, but I'm pretty sure God knows better than I do.
So whether you think what they are doing is right or not, support those in blue. If it was you that was out there, wouldn't you want a little support? So thank you to those that serve in our own hometowns everyday. I'm standing alongside many behind the blue, and we got your back.
