14 Things I Wish I Knew Before Coming To College

As this school year comes to a close, I can't help but think about all the things that I have enjoyed thus far in school. Although there are so many things I enjoyed, I still feel as though I missed out on many things in college. Here are 11 things I think you should know before coming to college....

1. College is going to go by fast.....so soak up every memory. Go to every athletic event. Participate in everything and make sure you soak up every memory.

2. There are a lot of places that offer discounts. Just ask because you never know. You could save so much money.

3. College is going to be a lot of work, but trust me, it will all get done in time, so don't stress yourself out.

4. Not every friendship is going to last, and that's OK. There are plenty of other people in this world that can be your friend.

5. Stay Organized, because it will benefit you in the long run when it comes to schooling. Make sure you keep up with your studies too. Trust me, that GPA does matter and employers are going to care, at least for your first job that is.

6. Get Involved...it will bring you friendships, opportunities and so many more benefits. Trust me, there are plenty of things to get involved in: Greek life, religious organizations, and there are even opportunities for you to create your own club or organization.

7. Get Healthy...Trust me, a couple hours a week at the gym is only going to help you. Drink water, and limit junk food. Trust me, it will make a world of difference.

8. Don't Skip Class.....(often). Class is important. I understand there are days you just need a break, but make sure you stick with a schedule.

9. You are going to miss your family and that is OK. The homesickness will go away with time.

10. Get to Know your teachers... trust me, it is all about who you know.

11. It is OK to question your Major...you might not know what you want to do with the rest of your life, and that is perfectly fine. There is time for you to figure out what you want to do with your life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
