The road to body acceptance.

During most of my teenage and early young adult life, when summertime rolled around my physical insecurities seemed to kick it up a notch. Between my always-blushing Irish skin and my curveless figure, walking confidently in a swimsuit was something I struggled with.

In the past few months, my body confidence has really taken a turn for the best. With graduation on the horizon, I’ve realized that no one cares how I dress or wear my makeup as much as I do. I’ve even asked myself, who am I trying to impress and what would actually impress them? Ideally, not my looks and hopefully the way I speak, act and present myself.

This mentality has not only cut my morning routine from 60 minutes to 30, but it has also inspired confidence in the final phases of my life as a student. Meaning projects, presentations, my thesis proposal, and even job interviews couldn’t be going better. And with brain quickly becoming the new butt, I’ve never felt sexier.

With my new-found body confidence, I’ve been able to shop for swimsuits easier than ever. As usual, the Spiritual Gangster swim collection stole my heart this year. Stay tuned and I’ll highlight a few of their best styles, but know that the meaningful mission statement behind the brand has me coming back too.

Not only does Spiritual Gangster donate 10 percent of every sale to provide meals for hungry people in need, but the brand promotes a positive lifestyle too. One where all beings feel equal to one another, happy, and free.

It was tricky to pick just three of my favorite styles, but after careful consideration, I have narrowed it down to their best classic one-piece, a gorgeous traditional bikini, and my top pick of the graphic swimsuits.

Spiritual Gangster Swim Review

One piece bathing suits are typically something you either love or hate. Being such a dynamic style, it’s no surprise the fit isn’t flattering on everyone. With that said, my one piece lovers are going to fall hard for this year’s black Spiritual Gangster one piece. The material is soft and forms to you, but also snug and supportive. Be sure to take a good look at the size guide before checking out. I’m a somewhat fit, 5 foot 4, 115-pound girl and the extra-small was perfect.

Breezy Ribbed Spiritual Gangster Bikini changed my mind. I’ll admit I like it more and more the tanner I get, but I’m pretty confident this suit would look great on anyone.

Stepping away from the classic single-color look, the Spiritual Gangster swim collection offers a variety of graphic suits too. I tend to lean towards black suits so as a good vibe kinda girl naturally my favorite would be this one. You can’t tell from this picture, but the cut drops low in the back to just a few inches above where normal bikini bottoms would end. I love being able to tan my back without getting any weird lines and it’s surprisingly durable. By that I mean it stays on well. I’ve gone waterskiing in this suit and have no regrets.

As far as the rest of the lines go, most Spiritual Gangster shirts and sweatshirts are decorated with inspiring quotes. Some yoga-related and some just generally positive. Keeping it light while looking trendy feels just as good as it sounds. Plus, supporting a brand who actively gives back helps out with buyer’s remorse.

The best place to buy Spiritual Gangster is on their website. Dozens of studios and clothing stores sell various items, but the full collection can only be found online. Looking for a yoga studio with Spiritual Gangster for sale near you? Find a location here.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
