At Oklahoma State University an annual philanthropy event unites the entire campus in combatting the illnesses that children across the nation face every day. It it named CowboyThon, and all of the proceeds from this charity movement directly benefits the Children's Miracle Network.

Throughout the year, small events are held throughout the year which all lead up to the final show: the Dance Marathon. Students dance for 12 hours straight in honor of the children that they are fighting for and to raise even more money for the benefactor of the organization. It's an inspiring cause that rallies hope and love among the student body at Oklahoma State University and this is why you should be involved in it as well!

1. It's a dance marathon.

The 12 hours spent dancing for an amazing cause can be one of the greatest times of your life while in college. Everyone can just let go of their worries and come together to inspire hope.

2. Campus involvement.

CowboyThon is one of the largest organizations on campus and offers so many different ways to get involved from hosting and planning events, to making designs for posters and shirts, to filming the final show.

3. Cool merchandise.

Seriously, the shirts are one of the coolest things to wear on campus because almost everyone recognizes the CowboyThon logo. And who doesn't love wearing comfort colors? (Me, because I bought three shirts) Also, the proceeds from these t-shirt sales go directly towards the cause!

4. Children's Miracle Network Hospitals.

CowboyThon gets the opportunity to work with of the largest and most philanthropic charities in the nation. It's a beautiful thing to have the chance to work with a professional organization whose sole mission is to save the children.

5. Meeting some cool people.

Since a majority of the student body is involved in some way with CowboyThon, you're bound to meet so many great and interesting people who may have similar interests to you. And besides that, you get to meet the children who you're trying to help and let me tell you, they are 100 percent the coolest people that I have ever met.

6. It's a life changing experience.

It is especially life changing to know that you are making a difference in someone else's life, that you get the chance to save someone else that is not yourself. It gives you a special purpose that is unlike anything else.

7. You're making a change.

By being involved with CowboyThon, you're already making a difference in the lives of children. You're helping to make a change for other people who really need the hope that you are helping to give.

8. You're making miracles happen.

Without you, the Children's Miracle Network cannot help create the miracles that they make every day for these children. With you, the miracle that you can make is helping a child stay in the state to receive their medical care, you help bring them happiness, you're making miracles happen for these kids!

9. Be a part of something bigger than yourself.

Being a part of this organization is being a part of something that is way bigger than yourself in the sense that you are benefitting the larger world around you for a cause that has transcended decades. So much work is put into the CowboyThon cause and with your help, the reach of it only extends that power.

10. FTK!!!!!!!

Be For the Kids! Point blank, just be For the Kids! Be every best thing you can be for these kids! No child should go through their early lives worrying so much about their health and that is why CowboyThon is here. To fight for these kids, to be there for these children, to provide a form of hope that is not so readily available to them every day.
