What is beauty? What is it good for? Many things, sadly.
The only problem is, there's too much beauty around us, so how can we even begin to appreciate it all, when instead we're only trying to compete?
We are constantly faced with this pressure to "be beautiful", whatever the meaning of the word is this week.
We hold ourselves to these standards, constantly trying to improve ourselves to meet the definition of this idea of beauty.
The fact is, I don't think any of us truly know what beauty is, or what it means.
What's beautiful to me, may not be beautiful to you.
What you may see as the most beautiful girl in the world, another guy may look at and see as nothing but average.
So, how can we ever win?
So many of us live our lives just trying to feel and be beautiful.
We may be told we are many times, but it doesn't mean a thing unless we know it's thought by everyone. There's always someone new we feel this need to help us feel beautiful.
We obsess over our flaws and do anything and everything we can to "fix them". Whether it's by slathering on makeup, dressing up in the best clothes, getting a new hair style, maybe even going to more extreme measures and surgically changing ourselves. All for what?
The problem is there's always more we can be doing, even changing. When will it stop? When will we be content?
Beauty isn't a certain look. It isn't an eye color, hair cut, eyebrow shape, pearly white teeth, body size, or clothing style.
Beauty is nothing but what you create on the inside. Because who you are inside isn't impacted by humid days, mascara stained cheeks, thunder-thighs, or acne.
No matter how treacherous you look, if what you've created inside yourself is good, those who truly know you will see nothing but beauty because that's who you are.
Beauty is within us all, we just have to believe it.
