When you look up at the night sky and see hundreds of stars, you are looking in a mirror. When you exclaim how beautiful and extraordinary the stars are, you are describing yourself. And when you fall in love with the night sky, you are falling in love with yourself. I did not understand the phrase "we are all made of star dust" until a few days ago. I will tell you what it means.
We are made of elements that are only created by supernovas. A supernova is the death of a high mass star (a super giant). It would only be right for me to quote Nikita Gill at this time and say, "The universe wove you from a constellation just so every atom, every fiber in you comes from a different star. Together, you are bound by stardust, altogether spectacularly created from the energy of the universe itself. And that, my darling, is the poetry of physics, the poetry of you."
It is true that we are all connected through the universe, we are all made of the universe, and we are all as beautiful as the universe. The next time you look into the sky in awe, look into a mirror afterward with just as much awe and amazement, because you are just as beautiful.
Life can hurt you. It can push you around and test your breaking points. It can utterly destroy you and make you feel like you are nothing. Never feel like you are nothing. Never feel like you are insignificant. Never feel like you are not important. Because let me tell you: you are everything; you are significant; and you are very, very important.
The universe created you, and the universe does not make mistakes. You are meant to live the beautiful and incredible life that you are given. Life is so much more than pain, suffering and sorrow. It is full of happiness, joy, beauty and love. We have to feel the bad to truly know the good. We can't let the bad spoil the good, or the good cover up the bad.
In this life, we were given something very special: a soul. With our heart, soul and mind we are meant to feel; to feel everything. What an incredible gift we have been given. Emotions can often seem overwhelming, or confusing, or frustrating, but how wonderful it is to know the feelings of being alive and human; to have a soul so unique and extraordinary. Once you find the beauty inside yourself, look around and see it in everything.
Often times, it is easier to see the beauty in other people than it is to see in yourself, but that is only because you don't see yourself as other people do. When you look at others, you love what they may hate, and you see what they do not. People are beautiful. All people. Once you begin to see what makes people beautiful, you can't help but see it in everyone. A laugh, a smile, happiness in their eyes, a nervous habit, the way they speak, the way they look at someone they love.
Every day, I am amazed at how beautiful humans really are. Their hearts, minds and souls may not be the most obvious, but they are the most beautiful. They are what makes us who we are. Humans of New York is one of my favorite websites. Everyone has a story, and these stories represent our humanness and the beauty of life. Our stories are who we are, and even though we will not be on this Earth forever, we have stories that will -- beautiful stories that show humanity and tell the lives of the beautiful people that experienced them.
When you hear the word beauty, what do you think of? Do you think of people, the Earth, animals, trees, mountains, oceans, laughter, love? Beauty is everywhere you look, you just have to let yourself see it. Give in to all the emotions you feel, find the beauty in everyone you meet, go on adventures, love with your whole heart, listen to the stories of others, and find the beauty in the universe and yourself.
