I'm sure this second semester, high school or college, is getting the best of us all... If you're ready for those long days on the beach, or can't wait another minute to start sipping on sweet smoothies by the poolside, this is for you. Take five minutes, drop the books, take a deep breath, and add these ten songs to your summer 2017 playlist. This electric and alliterative combination of music types goes from chill head bops to songs you need to be up and dancing for.

1. HONNE and Izzy Bizu - Someone That Loves You

This song is perfect for any alternative lover with some electric background beats to keep a light-hearted and warm vibe. Between Izzy's light, youthful tone and HONNE's gritty contrast, this song will get you subconsciously swaying in your seat.

2. The Chainsmokers - Paris

Shocker, The Chainsmokers are on this list. This song is of course electric, but unlike the rest of The Chainsmokers other hit songs, this song has a really light beat and smooth tone. Definitely on the chill side of things.

3. Christine and The Queens - iT

Oh, how Héloïse Letissier's voice dances around each note of every song she sings. With the tone of her voice so pure, she really has an amazing way of adding those bits of grit in this song which turn the whole vibe around. Roll the windows down with your best girlfriends and enjoy all the youth this song has to offer. Can you imagine yourself now on the way to the beach on a warm summers morning yet?

4. Grace Mitchell - NoLo

Listening to this song is perfect for any occasion, especially the beach, because its energetic alternative beat can make anyone get off their feet and move around. Let your hair down and swing around to Grace Mitchell's lively and alternative melody.

5. Sigala - Sweet Lovin'

If this song doesn't make you want to move every part of your body, your speakers are definitely not loud enough. On the EDM/techno side of things, this song will get your heart happy and arms pumping.

6. Father John Misty - Real Love Baby

This song has more of the older smooth rock kind of feel to it. Perfect for any relaxing day in the sun and twirling around by the poolside.

7. Passion Pit - Carried Away

Any song by Passion Pit is applicable for this list. Without a doubt, this song, in particular, puts everyone in a cheerful mood. It sort of has a car-ride-with-your-best-friends type of vibe. Also, an interesting thing about Passion Pit is they started off as a one-man band writing songs about the women he loves. Now, Passion Pit is a band with five members has grown exponentially since 2007. Be sure to listen carefully and get the full effect by capturing the message of love in each song. This song is sure to turn those heavy stressful days into a cheerful time full of non-stop smiles.

8. Foster The People - I Would Do Anything For You

You really can't go wrong with Foster The People.

"I Would Do Anything For You" is one of those songs you put on repeat because it puts you in that content and twirly mood. An alternative style with a sprinkle of electric tones to add a twist which throws in a beachy feel.

9. Lenny Kravitz - Lady

"Lady" will make any women feel like they got it goin' on. This rock song definitely carries those hippy and dirty tones, and nothing is better than singing along to this song.

10. Galantis and Hook N Sling - Love On Me

Since Galantis is a personal favorite of mine, this song gets me in the best mood! With a Caribbean sprinkle twisted in each verse, "Love On Me," is 110% techno and the best song to dance along to when you're ready to go out and have a good time. If you're into the lively EDM style of music, Galantis is the perfect fit for you.

Now since you have the music, all that's needed is warm weather, no schoolwork and SUMMER! Do not fret, spring break is coming sooner than later. March is just around the corner! Hold in there.

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
