Can you imagine a world without the sun? Without seeing anything whatsoever. It would be a pitiful black void of a world with its inhabitants suffering perpetual blindness. Some people take the sun for granted, and I believe that nobody should because it is an exceptionally beautiful gift that humanity has been given. It gives us warmth, light and a domineering sense of peace. While it can be overbearing at times, the sun is always there to pick us up and keep us warm when we feel cold.
Everyone should know by now that our solar system’s sun formed from the Big Bang, which also formed the very planet we live on in conjunction with the rest of the planets orbiting the sun. We can take away that we are all lucky to be alive, but we are even luckier to have the gift of the sun in our solar system. Throughout time, it has been a beacon of light and guidance for everyone on Earth. It has kept us warm with its heat and it has given us a general feeling of peace. That still rings true today. Especially during spring and summer, the sun shines on us and releases our feelings of delight at the weather. The sun also helps plants and crops grow by triggering photosynthesis, providing us with food.
We have the blessing to witness beautiful sunrises in the morning and sunsets in the evening. After long days, it is exhilarating to see a radiant sunset bursting with colors. Whenever I see one, I take a few moments to observe the beauty of the scene. It helps me remember how beautiful our world is whenever I think it is in despair. I get the same feeling when I see the sun rise over the horizon in the early morning. I am not often awake when the sun rises, but on the occasions when I am, I am captivated by the magnificence of the bright and varied colors. It is beautiful scenes like these that we should not take for granted, and another thing to factor in is that they come from the Earth’s source of light and heat itself.
Perhaps most importantly of all, it has enabled humans to see what is in front of them and around them. Without the sun, we would not be able to see anything. It is still as imperative to humanity today as it was so many centuries ago. The moon is our source of light during the nighttime, but it is because of the sun that the moon shines in the first place; its surface reflects light emitted from the sun. Because of this, you could technically say that the sun is still our source of light at night.
The primary lesson to take away from all of this is that we humans should be grateful for the sun for as long as we live. It is arguably one of the most important things we humans need to survive and prosper, maybe even the most important.
