Ding dong, ding dong, Christmas bells are ringing

Baking: Christmas Edition
Food Network

The holidays are the best time of year for bakers. At least I think so. There are at least four new baking specials on the "Food Network" this time of year. Plus, baking brings people together, and nothing brings people together more than Christmas. Ergo, Christmas baking will bring so many people together this Christmas, they'll have to write a song about it.

Here are a few of my holiday favorites, from my kitchen to yours.

1) Peanut Butter Balls

My mom makes these every Christmas. The ingredients are simple; chunky peanut butter, powdered sugar, butter, and crushed graham crackers, mixed together and coated in melted semi-sweet chocolate. The balls are then frozen after they are assembled and dipped in chocolate, and are meant to be refrigerated for best results. That result? A sweet masterpiece that will leave Reeses in shame.

2) M&M Sugar Cookie Bars

A twist on the classic sugar cookie, these bars from Betty Crocker are only five ingredients to make. Those five ingredients are egg, butter, sugar cookie mix, M&M's, and white chocolate chips. Mix all the ingredients together, bake for around 20 minutes, cool for an hour, and enjoy!

3) Christmas Tree Wreaths

I have been making this with my family ever since I can remember. This is another really simple recipe. The ingredients you'll need are Corn Flakes, marshmallows, butter, green food coloring, and Red Hots candies. Melt butter and marshmallows in a saucepan, then add the Corn Flakes, then add the food coloring. Assemble the sticky mixture into one big wreath or individualized wreaths. Either way, top your creation off with Red Hots.

4) Christmas Cupcakes

These cupcakes are really simple to make. Take a box of vanilla cake mix and divide the batter in half. Color one half of the batter with red food coloring and the other with green food coloring. Once mixed, pour half red and half green batter into each cupcake liner, giving each new cupcake an added design. Bake for the amount of time it takes on the box and volia! Icing them is optional, I would almost advise against it, but you do you.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
