I am a firm believer that we must do our part to help others. It seems that the easiest way to think you're helping others affecting people's lives is by talking about it and "bringing awareness" to the cause.
While the first step of fixing the problem is to recognize it, many people stop there. We all have opinions, but opinions do not affect the cause enough. We all believe in something, or claim to, but just wanting something to happen does not make it so.
The way we act on our passion and beliefs is what creates a ripple of change.
A large problem we have, especially as Millennials, is that we like to run our mouths about what we know about a certain subject. We thrust our opinions at people, and instead of making the point, we start arguments because they do not see our side of the problem in the same way.
We do not participate in effective discussions, but instead, we turn people off from wanting to support the cause because we attacked them with our own truths.
Instead of talking and arguing about it, we should be taking our own actions. Not protesting, as protesting is not considered civil anymore. Instead, we can donate our time, money, and knowledge to the cause.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. It's filled with walks that people donate to and bake sales with proceeds going to research foundations or clinics. It's something we've been supporting for years because we know it exists and we know how to help.
Some like to think they know and they are aware of what's going on, but is it enough if we are not doing anything about it?
