Ahhhh, Autumn. The love/hate relationship for this season is shared by hipster Instagram bloggers and candy starving children everywhere. Nothing can compare to the sights, sounds, smells and most definitely the interesting tastes of the season.
For all of you out there who look forward to the dropping temperature and dancing pumpkin head gifs this is the article for you. Here are 10 things that only true fall time lovers will understand:
1. One word: SWEATERS.
Sweaters, sweaters, and yes, more sweaters. I have come to believe they are the most superior of clothing articles. Not only are they adorable, but functional and practical. Turtlenecks, cardigans, pullovers, sweatshirts, whatever you prefer, there is definitely a sweater for your style.
2. Pumpkin flavored everything?
Yeah, bet you didn't know Pumpkin Spice Cheerios was a thing. Not to mention the, seemingly hundreds, of other pumpkin and pumpkin spice flavored things. From whip cream (thank you Starbucks!!!) to even Wrigley's seasonal Pumpkin Spiced Gum. It seems that one can justify anything being pumpkin flavored during the fall, but I don't know if justifying that they all taste good will work quite the same.
3. The Fall foliage.
Fall foliage is nature's gift to the eye. Shades of red, orange and yellow paint mountaintops a picturesque water color-like scene once every year. The changing of the seasons signals the transformation of forests to become a magical and beautiful place to see and be in.
4. Hallowtober.
You read that right, and no that isn't a typo. Hallowtober. October has officially been renamed. I mean, thats the only important thing during October anyways, right? Halloween is a time for people of all ages to have fun and enjoy themselves. Little kids can go Trick-or-Treating for high calorie candy, and teenage girls have an excuse to show off as much skin without being questioned.
5. Pumpkin and apple picking.
Fields with little speckles of orange, and trees with bushels of red, are a common sight to see for any fall time lover. Pumpkin and apple picking are a fun way to get your hands dirty and take home a little piece of nature and make some sick jack-o-lanterns!
6. Dressing up for Halloween.
... but more importantly dressing up our pets for Halloween. Halloween is the best because just when you thought cats and babies couldn't get any cuter, they DO. However, whether you're buying your costume or making it, getting dressed up is the key for any fun Halloween night.
7. Scary movies.
A perfect excuse for cuddling up under the blankets with bae. Shut the lights off, and get prepared to be scared. Something about the bare trees, cold weather, and darkness at 6:00 p.m. makes the experience so much better.
8. Candy Corn.
Once every year these magical little candies are around for our taste buds to indulge in. Just admit it. You LOVE candy corn. Everybody can agree that they taste disgusting yet we are undeniably obsessed with it.
9. Autumn clothes.
Switching out the soft pinks, yellows and white in my closet for deep blues, reds and shades of purple is such a cathartic experience. You can finally try out those cute outfit ideas you've been pinning on Pinterest all summer. Get your cutest booties on and work it.
10. Bonfires.
Bonfires are the epitome of everything Autumn stands for; getting cozy with family and friends. Nothing beats a chilly night by the fire, some s'mores and good laughs. The best memories are made by the simplest of things.
