First a question: who was alive to witness most of the 1990’s? If you are one of them, then you should be able to get a real kick out of this. Today I am going to be reviewing some of the great shows from the 90’s. Singing the Friends theme song in your head already? Me too.

The 1990’s, in my opinion, was the best decade for television because of all the variety that was on. If you wanted cartoons, you had many to take your pick from. Sitcoms? Seinfeld, Friends, and Fresh Prince of Bel Air were your pleasures.

So here are five great shows that everyone I’m sure loves to death.

Saved By The Bell

The adventures and mis-adventures of Zack Morris and friends kept us coming back every week. Most of us kept wondering who Kelly would go for: Zack or Slater? And would Screech finally get Lisa to like him? These were things that everyone wanted to know throughout the entire show’s run.

What makes Saved By the Bell a classic is that it talks about problems that all high school aged kids can relate to and also because it features the stereotypical people we all knew in high school. Zack, the good-looking, lady-loving, slacker always talking his way out of trouble; Slater, the jock; Samuel “Screech” Powers, the nerd; Kelly, the beautiful cheerleader all guys had a crush on back in the day; Jessie, the smart feminist and Lisa, the fashionable one.

So whenever you’re in a pinch, don’t worry. It’s alright ‘cause you’re saved by the bell.

Fresh Prince of Bel Air

In West Philadelphia, born and raised, on the playground is where…oh you know the rest.

This show launched Will Smith’s career during a period where he was a struggling rapper and turned him into a household name.

This Philadelphia homeboy tries to fit in with his stiff upper lip relatives in the rich LA suburb of Bel Air. With his constant culture clashes with his uncle Phil and cousin Carlton, there is never a dull moment in the Banks’ household.

Seinfeld

The sitcom to end all sitcoms during the 90’s was without a doubt Seinfeld. The crazy daily lives of comedian Jerry Seinfeld, his ex-girlfriend Elaine Benes, eccentric neighbor Cosmo Kramer and awkward best friend George Costanza kept us laughing throughout the entire show. Never being afraid to discuss topics such as doing “that” in your mother’s house and questioning why a future baseball star was traded, Seinfeld took on anything and made it into a half-hour laughfest.

Friends

Perhaps second only to Seinfeld, Friends was one of the defining sitcoms of the 1990’s. The reason I think the show as so successful was because the characters reminded us of friends we have and all of their different personalities.

What drew us to Friends was Ross and Rachael’s on and off relationship and eventually Monica and Chandler’s evolving relationship throughout the entire show. Also how can we forget Joey and his famous “how you doin’” line?

Ross and Rachael go through the many different phases of friends but there is something more underneath. Ross has his failed marriage and his inability to marry Emily because of his feelings for Rachael. By the end of the series, they have a daughter together and they live happily ever after, if you can put it that way.

Overall Friends will always be a favorite of us 90’s kids and those that continued watching it to the end in 2004.

Conclusion

Caught up in the nostalgia yet? So am I. Just being back in the good ole days of television has me in a great mood. They just don’t make shows now the way they used to. It’s all about reality shows and what not that it just turns me off to TV.

The 90’s were a magical time for all of us I hope and the television shows illustrated all of those great times.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
