You may have heard of a little-known television program known as "Game of Thrones." You may or may not be familiar with the subject matter, but essentially, a bunch of really rich noble families play political mind games with each other and fight a bunch over who gets to sit on the Iron Throne, even though the whole time there's a girl in the south raising dragons and a dude in the north fighting ice zombies. So basically, a very relatable tale. As some of you may have seen, one of the stars of the show, Maisie Williams, recently posted a picture wearing a University of Dayton sweatshirt.
And as I am unable to separate real people from their fictional personas, it is clear that it was actually Arya Stark sporting the best apparel in the world. Such Flyer pride can really only mean one thing. Everyone's favorite little assassin is coming to the University of Dayton! Winter is, so she might as well.
Let's look at the facts here - Arya usually only wears brown sacks and/or furry coats. She's the kind of girl who only wears what she wants, so trading in Needle for the red and blue clearly means her Flyer spirit is stronger than her will to kill Cersei. For those of you who don't believe me, I have compiled a conclusive list of all of the reasons why Arya Stark is probably definitely declaring for House Flyer.
1. Honing her dancing skills
Why do people go to college again? Oh yeah, to get better at what they're interested in - duh. She's been taught by the best, so obviously, the next logical step in her education would be to attend the good old U of D.
2. The Wall
Arya's brothers have had some trouble dealing with walls. If you'll recall - Bran fell off of one, and Jon lives on another, much larger wall. The problems her bros have faced due to walls is enough to make this vengeful gal destroy one more blue icy wall at Timothy's than Viserion.
3. All Men Must Beer Die
Valar Mordrinkus.
4. Hall of Saints' Faces
Marianist institutions are freaking packed with different saints and pictures of people's faces. Arya would probably take one look at a place like the Chapel of Immaculate Conception, full of stained glass faces and priests, and feel right at home.
5. Killer lists
Arya has a penchant for lists, and college kids pretty much only survive off of the things. Do your laundry. Check. Write your paper. Check. Kill Walda Frey's sons and bake them into pies. Check.
6. Sister drama
She'd probably be a Pi Phi, but you'd have to be careful about letting her near the pies while fundraising. She and her sister, Sansa, have more drama than a house full of synced flows, but their shared interests always bring them together in the end. And yes, those interests are killing people who have wronged their family, not preparing for POTH.
7. Breaking down gender roles
Arya spends half of the show as a boy and the other half as no one. So can you say screw you, gender? We have an incredibly inclusive campus when it comes to the LGBTQ+ community. Pretty sure a girl has no judgment. And as we all know, there is no distinguishing between man and woman in High Valerian.
8. Crypts and Graveyards
UD is literally surrounded by one giant freaking graveyard. And where does she go the second she gets home? Oh yeah, the crypt. What's her profession? Oh yeah, killing. She worships the God of Death and we've got help from him in droves here! Was that insensitive? Not sure. Maybe No One knows.
9. Interest in flyer history
Arya has always been pretty obsessed with dragons and their history - and we are the home of the two original history-making flyers.
10. Hot Pie could make monster cookies!
I'm just really trying to drive the point home here that she really freaking likes pie. So much so that her best friend is straight up named Hot Pie and makes pie, which means he could totally come here with her and make monster cookies. A dire wolf is kind of a monster, right?
11. A college kid always pays their debts
Arya spent a fun summer internship at a Lannister internment camp where she saw people get eaten by rats and served Tywin a bunch of wine! Wow! Here at UD, we could help her hone those skills of servitude, wine drinking, and always paying your debts (even if it requires a wacky loan plan from the Iron Bank).
12. Bravo Braavos
We have a Bravo's Italian restaurant super nearby, plus I'm pretty sure Rudy Flyer looks almost exactly like Titan. And we may not sell oysters, but we have some sweet sushi chefs at VWK. Plus, a decent theater program.
13. The Narrow Miami Valley Sea
Arya's the type of girl who loves a little aquatic action; be it standing on the mast of a ship, jumping off a bridge after being brutally stabbed, throwing a prince's sword in a lake at risk of death, or taking a relaxing kayaking trip down the Miami Valley River. Not to mention, she's always kind of waiting for her childhood crush, Gendry, to row on up.
14. Paws 4 Nymeria
Everyone knows that Arya's only true friends were Nymeria, her awesome mega wolf, and The Hound, her awesome mega captor. She would undoubtedly love the chance to take back her sweet doggo, though I doubt Paws 4 Ability would be cool with her saying "that's not you" and letting the pup run off into the wilds of Dayton. Or letting her leave a hound out in the rain to die.
15. Take Back the Night's Watch
She was in training to join the Night's Watch even though it's an all boys club. Basically, she'd make a bomb rally woman for Take Back the Night. But in all seriousness, her sister was raped many times and was in too many abusive relationships to count, so there's a need here.
16. All Flyers Must Serve
She's big into helping prisoners and the less fortunate, so she'd fit right into our campus's culture of service. She saved an assassin and a bastard within a fortnight. She spared the lives of all of the Frey women. She saved a chubby baker, a chubby butcher, and a random actress for some reason. Valar Dohaeris.
17. She could already be here...
She could have taken pretty much anyone's face and could currently be pretending to be them, so maybe start asking around about needles and hounds and pies and see what kind of reaction you get.
