Are You There God? It's Me, Shelby.

With constant heartache going on around the world it has been so easy to turn away from God. It's been easy to sit in Sunday School or sit in that church pew but not actually listen or not actually care.

Why are you letting mass murders take place, God? Why are women being raped, God? Why are you putting me through this, God? If you are there, God, why are you letting so much pain and suffering occur?

It's been easy to question God's existence when it seems like the world is falling apart.

All that heartache and bitterness can be pretty overwhelming. It's tearing me down in my faith. It has been so easy for me to get caught up in the world and all its craziness. I can quickly lose sight of what God has done and is doing in my life and that is dangerous.

God is always there, wherever I tend to veer-off to. He doesn't go anywhere and he definitely doesn't leave when things get hard and scary. It was me. I turned away from him when it was easy to question his existence I turned away from him when things got hard. So here I am saying "Are You There God? It's Me, Shelby." And he is ALWAYS there to answer and of course listen to me rant.

So, if you tend to be like me and let what's happening in this crazy world bring you down, stop, take a deep breath, and talk to God. Remember that everything happens for a reason and it all is in God's will. In Romans 12:9 it states, "hate what is evil; cling to what is good." I think that this means that God is telling us to be more and more like him. God hates evil and God loves others. In the bible it says that God is "saddened" by sin and evil. I believe that the evil that occurs in this world is to turn us towards God instead of away from him. It is not to curse God for letting these things happen, but to thank God for sending his one and only son to the cross to die for the sins of this very lost world.

Talk to God, and stay in his word daily. Don't let yourself fall into the worries of this world. Our life here on Earth is short, but live it sharing God's word and being a witness to other people like he has called us all to be. Don't let doubt bring you down and let you questions God's existence.

"If you look at the world you will be distressed. If you look within you will be depressed. If you look at God you will be at rest." -Corrie Ten Boom

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
