In four days, Marvel Studios is bringing one of their biggest and most audacious movies ever to the big screen. "Captain America: Civil War," the third movie in the Captain America trilogy. It also happens to be the start of Marvel's third stage in the Marvel Cinematic Universe also known as the MCU. This movie will change everything we thought we ever knew and will make us question who we trust.
After the events in "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" Bucky Barns is on the run and The Captain is seeking him out as the government is imposing new laws that will force all powered people to ultimately surrender or die. This new enemy from within will drive The Avengers to taking sides and then war breaks out. Captain America V. Iron Man, the ultimate showdown of power. This movie is full of everything a Marvel nerd could ask for, action, heroes, explosions, puns, jokes, shawarma, (only you true fans know this) and best of all, Captain America!
To Break it down, first off we know that Cap's arch enemy Baron Zemo, a nazi elite and Crossbones, a high ranking assailant for the Red Skull are the minor conflict. We know that the main conflict is internal. Then with two villains in one movie this becomes an even tougher act to pull off while at the exact same time incorporating 13 different superheroes. That list includes, Captain America, Iron Man, Ant-man, Vision, Black Panther and as of right now the reviews are setting this mesh up of heroes to be one of Marvel's greatest marvels yet.
If that's not enough then lets discuss the intro of Black Panther aka T'Challa. He is one of the most anticipated acts of this movie as he is sided with team Iron Man and has been seen in the trailers fighting the Captain. His hidden back story adds to our anticipation of his character and sets up his single movie to be released in July of 2018. His powers are vague and we know very little of his view on anyone else or the world he is in. He is lie the loose end that we are just learning of.
The second character that every Marvel fan is finally proud to call theirs is Spiderman. His rights were owned a long time by Sony and only recently has Marvel acquired him back to in this Cap movie. His single movie entitled Spiderman: Homecoming will be hitting theaters July of 2017 and adds a long lost Avenger back into our midst. He is our wild card and the one we look forward to seeing his mediator like status or if he'll choose to join the conflicted sides.
However not only does this movie set up two entirely new superheroes and bring two villains into one story all at once, but it pairs two of our favorite heroes in a fight to the death over the controlling power of the government. This has been the most contentious pieces between fans, whether Cap will die from being shot by Bucky after the Captain jumps in front of Iron Man. Or if Crossbones will kill him as he did in the comics. We can also always hope that maybe another hero of "less importance" will die but I guess we will have to wait and see. This may truly be the first time we see a main Marvel character die.
I know all you Marvel addicts like me are drooling over these possibilities of this and how great a time it is to be a fan. You never know maybe some of you will even become a true Marvel fan through this movie!
United we stand. Divided we fall.
