5 Helpful Applications All College Students Need To Download Today

I recently found some Google Chrome extensions and phone applications that are incredibly useful for any college student. All of these apps are user-friendly and easy to use and set up. I enjoy them all and thought it would be helpful to share!

1. Honey

Personal screenshot

I just got this Google Chrome extension about a month ago and I absolutely love it. For all of you online shoppers, Honey uses an algorithm to search all coupons for a store when you checkout on that stores website. We all know college students are on a budget and I once saved $30 with Honey which was awesome! It's so asy to use and every time you purchase something online and apply honey coupon codes you get reward points! The best thing is it's right on the top of every google chrome page so it's easily accessible!

2. Tapingo

goo.gl

A lot of college campuses use Tapingo. It's an app to order food around and on campus. I love to use Tapingo when I don't want to wait in line at cafes at my school. It's really easy to use and what I like best about Tapingo is I can connect my student account card. My school has something called dining dollars which most cafes and food places around campus accept. If you haven't used this app yet I highly recommend it.

3. Exeq

https://exeq.com/

I found out about this app over the summer. It's a budgeting app where you can connect your bank account. It has visuals on how much you spend and even breaks it down into categories. Some of the categories the app has are: shopping, dining, groceries, and travel. It breaks down how much you spent that month in each category. I'm a very visual person so this app is great!

4. Grammarly

https://www.grammarly.com/

I have heard about Grammarly a while back but never used it. I recently heard about it again in my journalism class when my professor recommended it when writing our articles. You can easily upload Word documents to the website and it's also a Google Chrome extension. I will be using this often!

5. Shine Text

Personal screenshots by me

This is the cutest thing. You set up on their website or phone app and Shine will send you daily texts filled with positive messages to start your morning. You can even set the time that Shine will send you a text. Some of the texts I have gotten from Shine are "It's OK to say no to things in order to say yes to your future well being". One that I really liked was "The things you want to hear today? Say 'em loud. Even a good job, getting out of bed, Emma! can rewire your thoughts." I love the self love messages! It's a great way to start my day and I get the texts every day at 10:00am so I can see it right when I am up and about in the morning.

Happy downloading!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
