Bands Are Made Up Of More Than Just The Lead Singers

We need to start acknowledging and appreciating the other members.

Every band has a person (or people) who are more popular than the rest of the band.

In All Time Low, it’s Alex Gaskarth and Jack Barakat.

In Waterparks, it’s Awsten Knight.

In AS IT IS, it’s Patty Walters.

In Fall Out Boy, it’s Pete Wentz and Patrick Stump.

I could go on forever with a list of most popular band members.

I get it. I understand that everyone has their favorite member for a variety of different reasons whether that be similar personalities or they just think they’re the most good-looking, but often times I see other band members totally ignored and that breaks my heart.

Sometimes, I see it on social media, other times I hear people talking about it while waiting in line at concerts. I’ve heard a few stories about how people completely ignore other members of the band and pretend they’re not even there.

There was once a video that was made way back in the day when All Time Low made videos for Buzznet where Rian talked about how a girl didn’t recognize him, but recognized Jack, and I could see how hurt he was talking about it even though he was laughing.

How can someone be a fan of the band and not acknowledge all of the members?

Rian Dawson plays drums and Zack Merrick plays bass and sings backup vocals in All Time Low.

Geoff Wigington plays guitar and Otto Wood plays drums in Waterparks.

Patrick Foley plays drums in AS IT IS.

Andy Hurley plays drums in Fall Out Boy.

Drums and bass are usually the backbone of most songs in a band. Without them, songs would be nothing. There would be no rhythm, no backup vocals, no cool bass drops or anything like that in songs. It would be boring, and who wants to listen to boring?

Without Rian and Zack, there would be no All Time Low. Without Geoff and Otto, there’d be no Waterparks, and so on, and so forth.

The other members of the band deserve as much love and attention as the most popular members do. They are all apart of the same band, doing what they love, performing in front of thousands of fans every night, so the least we can do is respect them, acknowledge them, and let them know that they are appreciated.

I personally can’t choose a favorite band member out of any of my favorite bands because I love them all. Each member plays an important role in the band, whether that be drums, bass, guitar or vocals and all of the parts are needed in order to make the band what it is.

All members are loved. All members are important. Love all of them equally because they deserve it. Remember, the band wouldn’t be who they are without that person. It would feel different if someone else was in there spot.

Tell the members of your favorite band that you love them! They will appreciate it and it will make their day.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
