If you're like me, you have no idea how to use makeup.

I have recently become very interested in learning how to use certain tools and colors in a simple, no-stress sort of way. My awesome friend, Kyla, is studying to be an esthetician and is so talented at makeup. I told her about my newfound interest, and she let me ask her some basic questions. Below are her fabulous answers!

1. What's the best way to make my eyes pop?

This depends on your eye color.

If you have brown eyes, purple eyeshadow really make your eyes stand out. If you want to be bold, add a gold eyeshadow or eyeliner. If you have blue eyes, neutrals are the way to go. Browns, pinks and light purples really work great for blues! If you want to step it up a little farther, add some white shimmer in your inner corner.

For green eyes, purple is the way to go. Purple looks absolutely stunning with green eyes. Add some silver shimmer to really up your game. If you have a gray tone to your eyes, use brown eyeliner instead of black. For shadows, peachy and copper colors really do wonders.

Bright orange is also beautiful if you're daring enough to take it there! Last, hazel eyes have a lot of different colors mixed in, so you can really look great in any color. What I have found to be super flattering is dark greens and gold. White eyeliner also looks beautiful.

If you want to find even more shades that might look good on your particular eyeshade, take a look at a color wheel, any color that is opposite of your eye color will look beautiful and make your eyes pop!

2. Oh no! I have a huge pimple! How do I cover it up?

The best way to cover a pimple is to first use your favorite concealer.

Apply it on the area that you are trying to cover. Then apply your foundation over your entire face. If you still see it more than you'd like, then you can add even more concealer over the spot and blend in. Be careful to not put too much on that one spot. This will draw even more attention to a pimple.

3. My lips are so tiny. How can I make them look fuller?

There are two ways that I recommend.

You can overdraw your lips with a lip liner. Just like eyebrows, if you don't like the shape you can draw with a product to get them the shape you want. Use a lip liner similar to the lipstick shade you want to wear, and create a new outline on your lips. The second way if you are a more natural type of person, use just clear lip gloss!

The gloss catches the lightning and makes them look more full. Or, you can do both!

4. I can't find a foundation that matches my skin tone. What should I do?

It can be really hard to find a foundation that matches your skin perfectly.

You can mix two or more shades together to get the best shade for your skin tone. You can also go to an Ulta or Sephora store near you and they will shade match you for free! They will tell you what foundation brand would be good for your skin type, undertone, and color.

They will also tell you what shade number to get from that said brand. Lancôme also has custom-made foundations. They use technology to find the exact color and texture match for you. It would be your own personalized shade! However, it is a little on the pricier side.

5. How can I make my eyebrows look fuller?

The easiest way to make your eyebrows look fuller is to use a pomade eyebrow filler or an eyebrow pencil.

Just filling in the small empty spots in your eyebrows can do the trick. If you want to make them bolder, you can use your filler or pencil and draw your brows into the shape you want then just fill it in.

Another way is to get your eyebrows tinted. This is only temporary though, and most salons charge about $20 for it. A more pricey yet permanent way is to get your brows microbladed.

6. I got no sleep last night. How do I make my face look more awake?

The best way to hide no sleep and dark circles is to really brighten under your eyes.

You can do this by using concealer (use a shade that is a few shades lighter than your foundation) to make it brighter. You can use a white setting powder over top of the concealer and it will lighten even more. Another option is to use white eyeliner on your waterline. This really opens your eyes, while black eyeliner makes your eyes look smaller.

If you don't have any white eyeliner, go for a white eyeshadow instead! If you have really bad bags under your eyes, lighter skin colors could use a peach color-corrector. Darker skin tones should use an orange color-corrector before you apply your foundation.

7. I'm not really sure how to blend correctly.

The best way to blend your foundation is with a beauty blender.

Beauty blenders really take little to no effort to give you a seamless and even blend. Just remember bounce on your face versus sliding down your face. When you are using liquid products, before you add any powder over top, use some setting powder over your face first.

This helps for a seamless blend and keeps the powder products from looking muddy on your face. Another important thing to do is to always use a clean blender when you are blending two or more colors together. When blending eyeshadow, make sure to use a light hand and hold your brushes towards the end of the base.

This keeps less pressure and gives you more control.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine.
