Holy frick. Just like that, it's over. Finals are finished. The students are moving out, and the majority of my friends are gone for the summer. There's no more traffic, no more late night study seshes, and no more tears over that one professor who just doesn't understand how difficult his exams actually are.
What the heck am I supposed to do for the next 3 months? Watch Netflix? Eat my weight in french fries? Deep clean my apartment for the one-hundredth time? But actually, I'm asking a legitimate question: WHAT do I do now that everyone left???
Don't get me wrong, I'm so glad to have a summer break. My brain needs to chill, and I plan to let it chill. But seriously, it's only been a few days since finals ended, and I already miss college. I miss walking to the bars on a Thursday night even though I have to work at 7 the next morning. I miss moped joyrides and sneaking tiny bottles of wine into lib. I miss showing up to class wearing sweatpants and sandals with socks for the third day in a row. I miss stealing 50+ coffee creamer packets from Sparty's because I don't want to buy my own. I miss study groups in tiny dorm rooms that turn into deep late night convos about life. East Lansing has become a true home away from home, and the people who live here have become family.
I know that every college student swears that their school is the best there will ever be, but I'm going to say it anyway: nobody tops Michigan State University. I know that Ohio State darties look pretty wild on the College Campus Snapchat story, but have you driven down Grand River on a sunny Saturday in April? This is the school where we camp out in the rain for 3 days so that we can get front seats to watch our football team lose yet again to a despised rival. At Michigan State, we spend our last 5 dollars on a Hot-and-Ready at 2 am because nobody else is open and the line at Conrads is too long. This is the place where students know how to work hard while also having a ridiculous amount of fun. Spartans will, and we at MSU sure know how to live up to our motto.
So to MSU, thank you for a year of parking tickets (and for letting me get out of each and every one of them), free doughnuts and coffee at lib, overpriced tuition, impossible exams, incredible friends, front row football seats, Monday night turn-ups, the best ice cream in the country, a beautiful campus, a top-notch bar scene, and the time of my life. I knew that college would be a life-changing experience, but I could have never imagined it to be THIS amazing.
In 112 days (yes, I'm already counting down), the Spartans return, and I couldn't be more excited. Here's to an unforgettable year at the greatest school in the country. MSU, you're the best. Cheers!
