Having been born and raised on Cape Cod there are many things you learn, from the shops that actually stay open in the winter to how to hit the least amount of traffic when everyone decides to gather here for the summer. Having spent every summer on the cape, it is easy to say that each summer brings new experiences, adventures, and memories. However, there are always those few things that reoccur each summer, and that is when you know you are in for another summer on Cape Cod.
- This one you cant avoid… the oh so famous Cape traffic. Much different than our winter commute, a summer on the cape brings the population from 200,000 to over 500,000 and with that comes a lot more cars on the road. Some days you just can’t avoid that dreaded cape traffic, so might as well have a good playlist while you wait.
- You have your favorite beach spot. Whether it is out on Sandy Neck, Mayflower, or up at the Beach Comber, there is one spot where you can always be found (on your days off of course).
- You have your favorite ice cream shop. What’s a warm summer day without a stop at one of the best local ice cream places like Polar Cave Ice Cream or Twin Acres.
- Cape League Baseball Games are always on the agenda. What is a better way to spend a warm summer night then in the stands?
- Beach bonfires are nothing out of the ordinary. I can guarantee you that a summer on the cape includes at least a bonfire out on the beach one night a week or more, what a great way to spend a relaxing night.
- A trip to the Wellfleet Drive- In… an old fashion classic that is always fun on a warm night.
- Sand everywhere… enough said.
- Many sunsets and fireworks watched on the beach with friends and family, and memories made that will last all year until the following summer comes around.
