I have a confession.
Only the closest of my close friends know.
I'm addicted….to the Kim Kardashian game.
Let me give you a low-down on what the game is about. Basically your avatar (designed however you like, of course) does modeling, acting, and photo-shoot gigs as well as date, have babies, and buy all the clothes and houses you possibly can to become the #1 celebrity. Sounds catchy and original right?
I know, I know. I can hear it now “Are you crazy? Are you serious? Don’t you have things to do? She has a game?” Yes! To all of those questions, a big YES! Along with Pinterest, Amazon Prime, and Facebook; this game is a big contributor to my procrastination. It’s not something I will proclaim to everyone, although I’m not ashamed to admit it. It is actually pretty fun! I highly enjoy it.
At first, I myself had seen it as a slight problem (that I wasn’t going to quit), until I brought it up to someone. The conversation kind of went like:
Her: “I love [insert a different yet highly addictive game here]”.
Me: “Really?!?!
Her: “Yea, I’ve been playing it for about 3 years. It gives me something to do.”
Wait…someone who is probably just as invested in a game as much as I am with the Kim Kardashian game?
What is this madness?
Wait, I’m not the only one?
Of course not! I bet we are all addicted to something. Something that keeps our minds going and takes up our time. Whether it's Tumblr, World of Warcraft, iFunny, or Flappy Birds (if you’re still into that).
It's probably just another fad for me as of now, and I know I’ll find something else. But, my mind is boggling with a big question. What makes games so addictive? I’m pretty positive that there are thousands of articles that cover this very topic, articles that I do not plan to read or look up. Yet, I’m pretty sure I can sum them up with my very good reasoning and guessing skills.
1.The fact that we are all into technology these days (even dear ole’ granny), allows for easy access and exploration. So even though you may not be into any previous stated game or app, there is something that racks your brain. Don’t deny it.2. We have to continuously have something to occupy our brains. We are basically multi-tasking machines in training.

3. At the same time, we also crave something to calm our brain down and give us a small dose of peace. And nothing is as peaceful as spending $15,000 on a dress, shoes, and many other accessories my avatar NEEDS to have. #RetailTherapy

4. For a moment, I ignore all text messages, Snapchats, emails, and phone calls just to make sure I use up my energy in the-game (even though I probably shouldn’t). Games allow us to leave reality, even if just for a moment, and be someone else, or go to a different world. Overall, it is a great stress reliever and a positive sense of hope
5. OK, so there’s this girl named Willow Pape in the game and she’s always killing my vibe. She’s like a real-life mean girl that is obviously meant to knock me down. So of course I feel great when I pass her up on the popular list. Even though I may or may not have failed my Calculus test, I will always have that great sense of achievement that the game gives me. And that’s all we want in life, to achieve great things
Remember, the first step is to admit you have a problem.
What’s your addiction?
*It should be Kim Kardashian. Seriously stop what you’re doing and add me.
