O rain, with your quench of thirst of the life everlasting, we contemplate upon the gifts that you give us along with the quench of daggers for sadness and sulking.
Your presence is like a vagabond: traveling to and fro while stopping for a small rest in an inconspicuous place (which is actually the worst possible place you can be), amusing and vindicating us with your presence. The fiber caps of humans are forever soaked and ruined upon your overlook, while plants bask in the glory of your speech drops. Everlasting is the shade you cast, but also the life you bring to dozens of Rhododendrons, Roses, and more Rain.
Your Dark Cloud is reminiscent, like a PS2 game, of a childhood that you’ve enjoyed for as long that it was always available to be played with. You almost took it for granted, because you never knew how it got there in the first place, but you didn’t care because it was there for you. Of course the lessons that would have been taught by the rain would come much later, but you enjoyed playing with it like your first loose tooth.
Thy countenance did not shine on us during our times of need: instead it was a message from God sent to mock us into submission and acceptance of defeat. Slowly slouching in the rain towards the tempo of your heart was the most depressing thing that could happen next to the break-up with your significant other or the death of someone loved. The Rain never showed hospitality, but instead hostility towards your emotional complex as you tried to get through the problems by yourself.
Through the years, you’ve grown older and experience more phenomena in the world. You know realize that the best horror movie out on the market is named “Real Life”, with you as the main star. Never before have you had to face Criminal Trial, confrontation, letting go of relationships, even saying goodbye to your parents in order to follow your dreams. Still, the rain persisted day and night until you were soaked with self-sulking.
But, you’ve remembered that you were not alone all this time.
The rain, dusky as its presence may be, was always there for you. There is no logic as to why you went under the rain on a bad day but only to feel the comfort of the small messages of the universe grace your skin, face, mouth, nose, and ears whispering “do not be afraid, you have only begun to see the light”. In fact, the rain is the greatest teacher of solemnity and perseverance that there ever will be. Constant presence, always with the same force, rain serves not to mock us, but to remind us that the wheel of fortune will soon turn to reflect the light in our lives. Rain is our friend. Rain will always be there for us, meaning we are not alone in this small journey.
O rain, with your quench of daggers for persevering through life, we contemplate upon the gifts that you give us along with the quench of companionship and comfort.
Rain, we thank you for being there for us.
