The power of friendship is something that throughout our lives we realize more and more. Having your family by your side is one thing, but having friendships to fall back on is another. I have an unexplainable appreciation for the friendships that I have made both old and new. For even the friendships that didn't make it out of this crazy thing we call life. I can never repay all of you for the unforgettable memories we share, and the things that you have all have helped me through.
We hardly ever realize the impact friendships have on us. Our friends are like having a few extra pair of eyes helping us see when we are carelessly looking the other way. I would have never known the love of my life was right in front of my eyes if my best friends didn't help me see it. They see things that we look past because somehow, they know us better than we know ourselves. That itself is something miraculous and something to give recognition.
I appreciate the friends that I have made both old and new. For those who I haven't talked to in months or even years, I meant it when I called you my friend. Somehow in this world of countless people, we met each other and that must be for something. I appreciate how my truest friends accept me for who I am. Even the grumpy person I become before my morning coffee. I know that no matter what situation we get ourselves in, our friendship can only persevere and become stronger.
We can never repay the friends who helped us overcome the things we thought were incapable of ever being overcomed. They are the reason that we are the people we are today and have gotten as far as we have. It's funny how I can remember some of the hardest times of my life, and also be reminded of those times as good ones. They might have been hard, but my friends always had my back. It's crazy how much can wash away mid-laughter at your best friends jokes.
I will always say that my first loves was my high school best friends. They taught me how to love, and take care of our friendship more than anyone could have. This is one of the most valuable lessons that we can learn throughout our lives; how to truly care for someone. This refers to friends, significant others, co-workers, any type of relationship that you and I can think of.
The things the power of friendship has done for me thus far in my life makes me only excited for what is to come. Whether it's staying up late eating cookies on each other's beds only to regret all the crumbs when I'm trying to sleep an hour later, to listening to each other rant about a test that “had no questions on it that were on the study guide.” So thank you friendship for, everything in this letter and much, much more.
