Dear Mom,
Where do I even begin to find the words to express my thanks and love for you? Mom thank you for not only being my mom, but also my best friend. Thank you for being a good example of a strong and compassionate woman, as I've learned so many important lessons from you. I know there are days that I make you feel unwanted, but please know that I see everything that you do and all the work you put into our family. Please know, that we will always have a special bond and you will always be my best friend no matter how old I may be.
Thank you for giving me love, comfort and reassurance throughout my life. Thank you for always making me feel safe. Mom I want to thank you for being there whenever I needed you. Thank you for just sitting and listening to me when I was crying. Thank you for not judging me, when I made a mistake, even if you warned me ahead of time. You always put me and my brother first and I want you to know how much I appreciate that, because I can only imagine how much of a sacrifice that was.
Thank you loving me, when I said the meanest things or I did the stupidest things. I look back now and wish I could take all those things back, because you never deserved that. I know I was immature and I know that I was wrong, I just wish I could've recognized that in the moment. Thank you mom for reading to me every night when I was little, because it was more than you just reading a book to me. It was you making me laugh with the different voices for each character and it was the endless hugs before I went to sleep.
You have always been my number one supporter and you have pushed me to be the person I am today. I know that if I wasn't taught the lessons I was, or punished when needed, that I would not be here. You showed me that hard work and effort is the real reward. That the easy way out, will only cause trouble down the road. I know these things now, and I use them everyday. I teach what you taught me to little girls I teach in gymnastics.
Now at 20 years old, I can look back at everything you've done for me and everything you still do for me. I realize all the sacrifices you've made. I don't want you to think they have gone un-noticed. Through everything you have done for me, and for never giving up on me, even when I know I've pushed you away, you never walked away. I hope you can forgive me for all the arguments and the times that I just wanted to "be right". You taught me what unconditional love was, and I will be forever grateful for that. I hope that I can be as great of a mother as you, with my children, one day.
You are my best friend. You are my person. ALWAYS.
Love always,
Allie B
