An Open Letter To My Future Brother-In-Law

She deserves everything in the world but you make up for it by loving her and treating her like the queen that she is.

I didn't think that anyone was going to be crazy enough to marry my sister but you continue to amaze me. I'm just kidding, I'm so happy that you and my sister found each other. Granted I didn't like having to share my older sister but I don't think that I have ever seen her happier than she is with you. I'm going to say this now so we can get it out of the way, you better take care of her or your going to have a crazy baby sister to be answering to. She's my best friend and my sister. She deserves the world.

I am so happy that you two have found each other. I don't share well with others, you can pretty much ask anyone that I know, but I'm happy that I share her with you. You have to understand that it's been just the two of us my whole life. Yeah, we had mom and dad but she was the one who I cried too, told my secrets too, and complained too when I thought that mom and dad were being unfair. Granted we pretty much hated each other when we were growing up but we learned to love each other. I guess I can learn to love you too. I mean my sister did. Ha, I'm just kidding. I already love you for the way that you love my sister.

Now I know that not every single member of my family is too keen on the whole barn thing, but I think that its amazing. I know my sister and she has never been the whole big church, lots of flowers, or the super BIG wedding. I think that the barn fits the both of you to a T. Good job. She deserves big but you make up for it by loving her and treating her like the queen that she is. Treat her well, love her, and give her wine and you'll be set for life.

In all seriousness, she has worked hard her whole life, she took care of her baby sister when needed, she worked her butt off in school to get where she needed to be, and during that time she found you. I don't think that she ever really had time off. She went from high school to college and then straight to work when she graduated. She deserves the life that you will build together. I can't be more excited for you both.

Love, be happy, and love one another. I think that's all I can ask for.

Much love,

Your future sister-in-law.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
